Great all around boots
I go through a lot of boots because I hike, walk a lot and work in my nursery while wearing boots. I previously ordered a pair of Free Soldier boots which were much less expensive and very comfortable but the soles didn't adequately support my feet over time. I re-developed plantar fasciitis. I decided to order these Merrell boots despite the cost and they change everything for me. I wear custom orthotics so I bought a size 12 boot for my 11 1/2 foot because of the added space they take up. The boots are extremely comfortable and easy to put on and take off, considering these are tall boots. Once you work them in a little, all you have to do is loosen the top two rows of laces, unzip the sides and pull the velcro strap back. When you put them back on you get a tight, secure fit and barely notice you have boots on your feet. They feel light but supportive and do the job on technical trails. They have been water tight for me so far and I wear them in all kinds of weather. I also where them in the dead of summer. Highly recommend.

Forest Approved
As an LEO that works in the Forest and a variety of environments in the Pacific Southwest Terrain, I found these boots extremely comfortable.Moving from an officer on the street to the Forest quickly showed me that danner and Bates no longer met my outdoor needs while on patrol.I typically like wide shoes and these fit great. They are a great all rounder for on pavement to dirt, to mud, to trails, and do ok with a quick dip in the stream. they’re not water proof and I’m sure you could spray them for more resistance.I attached photos of my new boots and old. The old boots were about 1.5 years. Never “cleaned” them except with a hose from time to time. I work in the Forest and they got dirty the moment I stepped in the dirt. I wore them every regular and OT shift for 16+ hour days and they were always comfortable.About a year in I put in a dr. Scholl’s sport insert that replaced the worn out soles. If I’m going through very rugged terrain or specifically going hiking I would change into my Merrill’s hiking boots that had a more aggressive tread and were lighter, but these I believe could keep up on moderate level trails. Again they’re a great all rounder. If time was an issue I wouldn’t hesitate to keep them on.I’ll keep buying

Great boots for law enforcement/corrections
I am a correctional officer, and consequently spend a lot of time of my feet. My previous pair of boots had completely broken down, the insoles no longer offered any support, and it was causing a lot of foot pain (I have high arches). I own a pair of Merrell Moab 2 hiking shoes and really like them, so I was happy to see that they also made a boot that was more geared toward LE. I have had these boots for approximately 5 months now, and the following are my pros and cons:Pros: Quality construction all around, including the zippers, great soles that provide traction on any surface and thus far, show no major signs of wear after spending hundreds and hundreds of hours walking on asphalt and concrete, they are actually waterproof when used reasonably (I wouldn’t expect that they’d keep your feet dry if you’re standing stationary in water up to your ankles, but work for walking through puddles, rain, etc), fit snugly enough to provide foot and ankle support, but not so snug that they are uncomfortable, the factory insole and general shape of the footbed seem to be geared toward people with high arches, which is great for me, well ventilated for a water resistant boot (my feet don’t sweat excessively in them).Cons: This isn’t a knock on the boot at all, but I did have to switch out the factory insole for aftermarket ones due to needing more arch support, just something to be aware of if you also have high arches, they developed a squeak the first time I wore them on a rainy day (eventually subsided, but annoying), the soles are very firm and definitely aren’t a soft “tennis shoe” style soleIn closing, I’d recommend these boots to any LE/Corrections/Security. The only reason I didn’t give them 5 stars was that they did not alleviate my foot pain to the degree I was hoping, but they are definitely a comfortable, well-made boot

Nice Merrells
I have worn Merrell boots for decades. I have bought their hiking boots and worn them out, one pair at a time. When I saw that they made a tactical boot, I had to try a pair. For me, I had to buy one size larger (Under Armor and Danner were the same way). I wear a 12 Wide, so I bought a 13 in these and they fit perfect. The only issue I had was when tightened and tied, the side zip isn't as effective as other brands, Rocky and 5.11 to be specific. I have to untie them to use the side zip. It is not too bad of a problem and it is easy to get around. They are comfortable, and have great ankle support, which is why I wear this type of footwear. I would buy these again in an instant.
