Great fit, comfortable and sturdy

I bought these for an overseas trip I was taking which I knew would involve a lot of walking over somewhat rugged terrain. I am NOT a hiker but I wanted something waterproof with good ankle support and a comfortable fit and these were perfect. After sending back two previous other pair of boots from other makers, these were a perfect fit and very comfortable for long hours walking and standing. They are still in very good shape. When they wear out, I hope they are still making this style!

Good hiking boots

Excellent fit. Good quality and appropriate value for money. Does not slip on rocks. Waterproofing keeps my feet dry. I can hike with comfort.

Truly waterproof and a good looking functional boot

Gore Tex is the only waterproofing I've found that is, in fact, truly effective. I can't claim to have tried them all, but of those I have tried, the result was, across the board, varying levels of disappointment. I can say that the word Gore-Tex in the description is almost certainly going to add a double digit lift to the pricetag. But in this case, and at a sale price, I have found this boot to more than fill the bill. A Wide size, I was initially concerned as to the fit, but with the thicker sock appropriate for this type of boot, it is amply comfortable. I haven't used it for off-trial hiking or foraging, so I can't speak to wear issues in this regard. I wanted a boot for rain and wet conditions, working outside and walking for exercise and this boot has more than filled the bill. I can't speak to environemental concerns, snow use, or heavy-duty backpacking trail considerations, biut for every day use in wet weather, this boot, even in a later design, I would say is a value oriented and effective, highly wearable product worth consideration.

Improved over Moab 2

After many hikes, it was time to replace my Moab 2 Mid waterproof boots. The two's replaced an original pair of Moabs. From the original to the two I had to go a 1/2 size down from 9.5 to 10 US. This made the sole length correct but the material on top was tight, but ok.I decided to spend the extra for the new 3 version as well as the Gore-Tex. and I ordered my normal shoe size 10.The fit was perfect. Comfortable. I've hiked about 20 miles on these now and no break in or discomfort. My last two Moab boots were 'waterproof'. I found this to be marginal. Walking in wet grass, my toes would be wet in 10 minutes. With the Gore-Tex version my feet are dry. Have I crossed creeks, or dipped the boot into water? Not yet!I'm also feeling more arch support with the 3's. My last pair I used inserts but not needed with this pair. There is also additional reinforcement up the back of the boot compared to the 2's. The overall fit around the top of the boot is sturdier and feels more secure. The weak point for my last two pairs is the mesh used on the top area eventually rips. Usually after a lot of hiking and miles. I'd like to see a stronger mesh/fabric used. Thus 4 out of 5 stars.I look at cheaper boots and the fit and finish isn't there. More expensive boots are well, more expensive. Merrell Moab boots continue to hit the sweet spot to me for value and comfort.

Feel and look great

Great boots! The fit is perfect, and they look great. They have more of a classic look than a lot of other boots on the market now, which is something I appreciate.

A great lightweight hiking/casual boot!

I was looking for a lighter weight pair of boots/shoes for hiking and selected this boot. The boots were comfortable from day one, did not require any significant break in. These boots are good for mid to low ankle water, and have had good grip in the locations I have used them. Haven't worn them long enough to check durability, but haven't seen anything disconcerting in the several months I have worn them.

I'm stick to this model for many years. It's great!

I have been buying this model for many years, and each time the pair lasts about 3 to 4 years due the great quality. Thanks to the Gore-tex membrane, I wear it in any season, only the socks are different. This is the 5-th pair. I am glad that once, thanks to discounts at Cabelas (in its best days), I found my model of boots for every day, and I continue to stick to this model that does not disappoint me, unlike others. Always the same size, always comfortable and light, always GTX version.
