Perfect balance of rugged style and solid support for heavier walkers
I weigh about 225 pounds and was looking for a shoe that could handle my weight while still being comfortable and versatile. I didn’t want something as bulky as a hiking boot, but I also didn’t want a flimsy sneaker that would wear out quickly. I considered several options like the Keen Austin, Keen Hightrail, and Oboz Bozeman Low, but I ultimately chose the Merrell Moab Adventure 3 because I liked the look of them the best.I couldn’t be happier with my decision. These shoes look fantastic — rugged but not overly outdoorsy — and the leather finish makes them look far more premium than most casual outdoor shoes. You can tell right away they’re built to last and not cheaply made. The sole is stiff and solid, which I actually think is a good thing. It gives the shoe a stable feel underfoot and makes it seem like it’ll hold up for years. I have high arches, and while the built-in arch support isn’t very pronounced, it hasn’t been uncomfortable — just something to note if you rely on strong arch support or orthotics. The overall comfort is excellent once they’ve broken in a bit. They’re versatile enough to wear on trails or around town, and they handle dirt and red clay really well since the colors and materials don’t show grime easily. If you’re a heavier walker looking for that perfect balance between rugged and casual — something that looks great, feels solid, and lasts — the Merrell Moab Adventure 3 is a fantastic choice.
