Heavy, sturdy shoe! (But not very comfortable)

I’m very conflicted in writing this review. This is the first time I have purchased this brand of shoe. The shoes arrived and are just as advertised — handsome and sturdy. I’ve worn them for a couple of weeks in non-work situations to break them in, but I have found them to be VERY heavy and rather inflexible, which makes them pretty uncomfortable. I can’t imagine wearing them all day since in this break-in period all I want to do is take them off. To be fair, previous shoes I have purchased are hiking-running hybrids, which are much lighter and more comfortable. I also have a pair of high-top work boots that also provide substantial support, but I expect them to be heavier and only wear them when I know I will be on a construction site. I hoped these shoes would do double duty, good for outdoors (light duty) and indoor, but I find they do neither especially well. If the comfort improves with more breaking-in, I will return and append this review. Bottom line: for sturdy and looks, I give them a 10; for comfort, I give them a 2.

Good shoes for the money

I bought these to replace a pair of Vent II’s I loved. They quit making the Vent II, so I took a chance on this older version. Much harder to break in, but seem to fit about the same. I did have to replace the insoles as my feet hurt after all day in and out of the cab for my LTL trucking job. The styling is about the same as is the fit. I tried some others (New Balance and Ariat) but they didn’t fit as well. Hopefully I can get a year out of them like their predecessor.
