Well Worth the Price - Excellent Boots

First off let me just say I’m not in the military and I didn’t buy these to use as duty boots.I was looking for a sort of “jack of all trades” hiking/general outdoor/work boot solution. I can’t justify spending $200 on a stand-alone pair of hiking boots.I came across different brands of “tactical” boots and landed on these. I figured if I want to use the boots mainly for hiking, I might as well buy a brand that’s known for its hiking boots, but find a pair that’s durable enough to be used for other things as well. Let me just say these boots DO NOT disappoint. The price is a little steep, but for a boot that’s waterproof, and this durable, I can use them for hiking, or as general work boots. They’ll be both comfortable and light enough to walk in all day long hiking, and durable and tough enough to be used as work/general outdoor boots.I initially ordered these AND the 8” height version to compare, and the 8” just seemed too military for me. I KNOW that’s the point of the boots, but the 6” offers plenty of ankle support, and since I’m not buying them as duty boots, there was no reason to go with the taller variant. It’s just extra height material for little to no positive. I’d say if you’re not buying these as military duty boots, go with these 6” ones.As is normal for Merrell products, they’re very high quality. The rubberized reinforcing around the boots adds support, and a lot of protection. I feel like these will go through anything and keep my feet safe and dry. And most importantly they’re extremely comfortable.*****One thing to note*****I wear a US Men’s 9.5 in EVERY type of shoe. From my dress shoes, to various brands of sneakers, to my Carhartt work boots, and my size is always a 9.5. I’ve never had to buy a different size. This is my first Merrell brand of any type of footwear. I ordered these in a 9.5 and they were slightly too big. I took into account wearing thicker socks/multiple layers and tried them on that way, and they’re still too big. Even tied as tightly as possible, I could slide my foot forward away from the back of the boot and my toes still wouldn’t touch the front. They were big enough that I would never be able to walk comfortably. No matter how tight I tied them, I would still be scrunching my toes up to keep my feet planted in the boots. I ordered a US Men’s 9 and tried them both on together to get a better idea, and the 9 is a perfect fit. A LITTLE snug at first but after properly adjusting the laces and breaking them in a bit, the 9 is a perfect fit. So the 9.5s when back. Again, this is my first pair of Merrells so this may be consistent with their sizing, but take into account they run a little big.Overall, very satisfied with the purchase. Will update with more use and wear.

So far great boots!

First off they came like 3 days earlier than it said which never happens to me so super happy about that. Now on to the actual boots. So far they are super comfortable and fit really well. I have the Moab 2 boots as well and just judging from the durability of those I’m gonna go ahead and assume these will be able to take a beating as well. One thing I really like about merell boots is how much room is in there for my feet. I technically wear a size 11.5 wide but those are close to impossible to find so I always get 12s these as well as the Moab 2 have plenty of room for my wide feet. I’ve only worn these for 2 days doing some more or less light walking around, we’ll see this next week how well they do as I bought them for work. So if they can hold up to the amount of abuse and miles on all types of terrain I’ll be putting them through that will just confirm what I already suspect. Alright so here’s my update. After about 6 months the boots had done really well except they started getting holes in them. Other that these boots were great

Super comfy, super durable

This was my 2nd purchase of these.... I liked the 1st pair so much that I got another for a backup. Fits like a glove on a wider foot, and you can adjust the laces to be little more or less snug wherever you need. Waterproof as far I've needed them to be... I waded across a huge a puddle that went over the top of these boots for about 10 seconds without getting my socks wet. Comfy to walk or crouch down in.... no pinching or binding at all. Very nicely padded. Can be a little warm in the summer, but not enough to make me wish I wore different shoes. Durable enough toes that I regularly use them for doing quick tire pressure checks. I think they might be the best work boots I've ever had.

Nice boots, so far....

I like these boots so much that I went ahead and bought a second pair while they are still available. They fit great on my size 14EE feet, and are very comfortable to walk around in. There comes a day when you can no longer go skipping around in Converse All-Stars with no problems. As you age and start having problems with your feet, you will appreciate finding shoes/boots that work for you. It becomes very important that you find a shoe or boot that works well with your feet. Everybody's feet are different, but these cradle my feet nicely and they work for me, so they're a keeper in my book. They're a good looking boot and will be perfect for kicking around up in the mountains, which is the main reason for the purchase. When a boot says "waterproof" on it, that usually means they have had some sort of coating and not a membrane built into the boot, which typically doesn't last very long, but I don't care about that as it's fairly arid in my neck of the woods anyway, and with an additional layer of a membrane they are usually hotter and don't breath as well. We'll see how well they hold up, which has been a problem in the past for Merrell shoes that I've had. So far I really like them.

Best boots ever!

This is my third pair of the exact same model. I can't believe Merrell makes a men's model size 3.5! I stand on my feet all day and had bad lower back pain, these boots fixed that. I'm about to order another pair, before they stop being available. Previous pairs lasted about 3 years of a really rough montain life. 100/100 recommend this boots. Not really water proof though. Buy a boot dryer with it, you will need it.

Very short.

Great Merrill quality, and very comfy and lightweight. But it only measures 8” when you include the heel, the shaft only reaches about 6”. Disappointing because my uniform won’t stay tucked into the boot because they’re significantly shorter than any of my other 8” boots.

Only boot now

I’ve bought these boots two or three times in the past they’re sturdy. And they last a long time. I buy pair of boots every year and I cycle through them at the end of the year. They’re comfortable. But don’t forget to waterproof your boots.
