Others said “Size up”, so I did. Green, not grey.
1st, the color. I chose the grey and was actually quite surprised when I opened the box and they were considerably darker that the pics on the website. These are GREEN, not grey. I like the darker color better.Next: These boots seem to be very well made. Time will tell. I’ve worn Merrells for many years and, for the most part, been very happy with how they fit and hold up. A little pricey sometimes, but worth it. Here’s a tip: Always buy Merrell shoes and boots with Vibram soles. Standard Merrell soles don’t last 1/2 as long as Vibrams.I was looking for something that could do double duty, not just as snow boots. I need something that can perform in cold (not arctic) and dry conditions as well as in mud. Today they saw both, and some flat out deep water, too. No issues whatsoever. I worked an 8 hour shift in them today and my feet feel fine.Based on others’ reviews that said, due to the thick insulation, these boots run a bit small, I ordered both a 10 mens, my regular size, and also an 11.The 10 fit like a normal Merrell 10 fits me, maybe a little snug, not tight, at first, but I know they’ll compress a bit with time. The 11 allowed my foot to slide in easily wearing my thickest wool socks. Because these will be my cold weather boots I opted to keep the 11s and send the 10s back. Looser is better in the cold. Tight boots = cold feet. The arches are higher than one might expect from a snow boot, but they def compressed as I wore them today.Long story short: They are true to size over regular or thinner socks but if you plan to wear 2 pair or very thick socks, size up.

Didn’t last very long
These boots were amazing. Very warm and light and great on snow/ice. Didn’t get to wear them very many times before the top started separating from the midsole. As you can see from my pictures I hardly wore them by how little the tread is worn. Currently trying to get Merrell to refund/replace them. Way too expensive for this to happen to these boots.

Warm boot for active winter weather
Used this on two winter snowshoe trips in the BWCA. Temps ranged from 20 to -8 F and never had cold feet. Wore with a medium weight Darn Tough wool sock during the warmer parts and a heavier weight Wigwam wool sock when it was colder. Never had sweaty feet and insoles and socks were completely dry. The boot insulation above my toes/below laces did feel damp to the touch after 3 days of continuous wear (except sleeping) but did not seem to affect warmth.Sizing was perfect just like the other Merrell boots I own. Normally I wear a size 11 in summer boots and I bought these in 11.5 to give extra room for heavy socks when it was cold. Could probably have went with 11 and fit the heavy wool socks without discomfort. I think I could fit two pairs of wool socks without hurting my feet because of the extra half size. If you are using these boot for normal daily winter wear and aren't messing with larger sock configurations, buy your normal size.Soles had great traction on loose snow, hard packed snow and ice covered rocks. The tread is great, hands down best traction you can expect from rubber soles in the winter. The soles also fit great in snowshoe bindings and did not slip off one bit. I'd say they were perfect for wilderness trips on snowshoes. As other reviewers noted, they have a high arch. My other Merrell boots have less arch and fit me like a glove. It did not give me discomfort but was noticeable. If I had my choice it would be better to have a little less after hours of walking. I'd still buy them again regardless of this.

I would recommend these boots.
These boots fit just as expected, I got a half size larger than my usual boot size to accommodate thick wool socks and I'm glad that i did. These boot get pretty good traction on ice, they are comfortable and they keep my feet warm. I would recommend these boots.

Fit is true to size
Fit is true to size. They feel more "roomy" than my other boots which is nice because with thicker socks my feet won't feel cramped. Overall seem well made. Alot lighter than I expected as well. Only reason not a 5 star review is because it's not cold enough where I'm at to test that or see how waterproof they are.
