Our family does a lot of hiking. I purchased these for my eight year old. These shoes have a wide fit, which is perfect for my daughter. The grips do fantastic with hiking over rocky and slippery trails. They are cushioned enough that she doesn't complain that her feet hurt during or after hikes. The style goes with anything. I'll purchase this style again.
Shoes are fine, built well, true to size and comfortable. Disappointed in the seller, bought two pairs with different sizes for my kids. One came in original packaging with the toe cavity stuffed with paper and tied up like from the factory. Other came in a generic box that says " original box damaged in transit", sure ok, but was also missing the paper stuffed in the toe, not tied like factory and slight wear. I got them in sale so I am not returning them but it's absolutely unethical to sell returns as new...
These were great hiking and rock scrambling/climbing shoes. The grip was excellent and helped my child be able to get traction to help them get up steep rock grades, etc.
remember to stay true to the size you usually wear. these are made roomier because they are hikers! a little wider than, say, sneakers in the same size, but NOT longer. they are made to wear with a thicker winter sock.that said, my nephew loves them! they will look sharp with his school uniform or casual joggers.*we purchased double hole toggles with 4 - 5 mm hole for easy on/off without worrying about breaking the backs of the shoes. makes learning to tie easy as well, since the laces are held in place and don't loosen. easy to tighten if they become loose throughout the day.the only thing i would change is to make them a tad higher. they are ankle high, like regular sneakers. but super sturdy and good for winter school!
Yeah ... my 4 year old son isn't easy on anything. His toys, his parents, and especially his shoes.While we size up roughly every 6 months, shoes dont usually last him more than 2 months.I wear Merrells for everyday use so I thought I'd give em a go for my wild child.These have lasted 5 months and still look like they'll up for a bit longer, long enough for a new pair of these to arrive. Survived everyday use of my real life Donnie Thornberry of a son ... school, playground, camping trips, fishing trips ...I am thoroughly impressed. Sketchers, Under Armor and many others work well but these held up much better.I do use elastic shoelaces for him and have had to change those QUITE FREQUENTLY... thats of no reflection of the shoes tho ... thats just my son.

The wide size really accommodates a wide foot. Walked a 65 hike in them. No blisters
