I am a new hiker, also have plantar fasciitis. I have heard this great for flat feet support and it is indeed. Keeps my feet supported on hikes. I have hiked on rough and uneven heavily rooted surface. It gave me a very firm support never had feet hurt.
Boots I received were NOT waterproof. Both the description and photos are incorrect and misleading. Nowhere on the boats are they labeled as waterproof (Merrell’s own WP) or G*reTex trademark.
Shoe is true to size. Light weight but yet supportive. My sensitive feet are happy in these every weekend for 3-4 hour desert terrain hikes.
Great boot but definitely not waterproof.
There is a reason these hiking boots are so highly rated. They are comfortable right out of the box and have good ankle support. We hiked Zion and Bryce Canyon with these, the traction on rocks and hills was great! I’m super happy!
The description says waterproof and the word waterproof appears on the shoe in the picture. The ones I received do not have the word waterproof on them. I know from experience with Merrell that it has to say waterproof on the shoe or be Goretex to be waterproof. I feel the picture is a bit of false advertising. The shoe is comfortable but for sure won't be waterfproof.
I walk my dog through a field that gets wet and muddy in the winter. These shoes keep my feet warm and dry, and were comfortable from the start. Would buy again.
