Solid boot UPDATE
After needing a new pair of boots that can both hike and be durable enough to do basic barn chores I tried both Keen and Merrell. Keen fit my arch all wrong so I sent it back but the Merrell is very nice. Having just received these I cannot really comment on how durable they are, but what I can say is that out of the box they are comfy, good ankle support and foot support, and my toes have room. I wear a 7.5 in tennis and sandals but I tend to wear 8 in boots so I can use thicker socks as the weather requires. They do not pain me wandering around my house doing chores, which I have been doing for the last 4 hours with them. I am looking forward to hiking in them this weekend.I will update my review in a couple months.Update to my April review,These boots are still fantastic and comfortable, very waterproof up middle of the boot, I have used them to hike and stomp around the barn. On the downside, they are actually a bit too roomy in the toe box and it sometimes bugs me, normally boots are too constricting at the toes so I always go a half size up. I gave the size 8 to a friend and ordered the 7.5 and that is the ticket. I will definitely buy them again when this pair wears out.May 2020 UPDATE. I can't say enough about these boots! Only thing falling apart on them is the inside where your heel rubs putting the shoe on and taking it off (yes, they are a tad snug doing that). I used these boots for work (dog groomer) for my barn chores and hiking, for everyday etc. I like to buy boots that are versatile. They are still completely waterproof and comfortable. I am looking to replace them now but I've heard the new phaserbound 2 is not as good waterproof or durable. We'll see. I am keeping these for messy chores.

Very comfortable
Very comfortable. My foot is on the wide side, but Wide size shoes are usually a little too wide. I have arthritis in my feet and these shoes have enough padding that I don't have any problems.

Great Walking Sandals
The sandals are great. They are replacing the same old pair I had. However, when I received the order, instead of the sandals, it was a pair of kids boots! Amazon is easy to work with so I called, broought the boots to our Whole Grocer and ordered a new pair from the Amazon rep.

Supremely comfortable
These are literally the most comfortable sandals I've ever owned. I'm developing a bit of arthritis in the balls of my feet and was bracing myself for a lot of walking in a recent trip to the States. Other reviews persuaded me to buy these and they were absolutely brilliant. No wearing in necessary, they accommodated my hot, swollen feet, and enabled me to walk all over Manhattan without a single ache or pain. They were equally good on the coast and in the desert. I can't rate them highly enough. Plus they look elegant and not too chunky for walking sandals. Marvellous.

I love these boots
Merrell are my choice in hiking footwear, this is my second pair, first were just ankle high.I love these boots! Comfortable shoes
The shoes are comfortable. They are short in length. My toes come closer to the end of the shoe than they do in my teva’s sandals. The strap in the back is very low on my heel. It is not uncomfortable. It just rides low on my heel. I have a very high arch. These shoes are comfortable. I’ve only worn them once so far. I look forward to wearing them during the summer
