No breaking in
Love these shoes. They are really more for the trail than for city walking. Waterproof, attractive, and very comfortable. I bought size 7.5 which is my usual size for athletic shoes and they fit perfect with no break in needed.

Merrell's are my go-to hiking & gardening shoes. They fit my feet better than comparable brands, so I tend to stick with them despite usually ending up disappointed by their claims of waterproofing. Usually I order waterproof Moabs & know they won't be waterproof for more than a day or two, which is really lame.I decided to give the Antoras a try, and I'm glad I did. Here's why:- They fit as expected. I was even able to insert a pair of fleece padded arch supports into them (after removing the stuck-on Merrell insert...why are you sticking them on Merrell? Please stop.) & they still fit well barefoot. Then I put on a pair of thick socks with the inserts in, loosened the laces a bit & they still fit.- I intentionally walked through thick, wet grass with my dogs & got them very wet. At first I was concerned they were leaking through the top, which is breathable. But it seems they're just getting cold. (The grass was wet with frosty ice, so it was chilly out. May need to upgrade to an insulated pair IF these prove to truly be waterproof in the long run.)- I don't think there's any "break in" period required. Out of the box, with my support inserts inside, I went for a 3 mile walk that took me through grass, down hills, up hills, over asphalt & along a packed gravel trail. It was dry, so I didn't get to further test the waterproofing. All of this, and my feet felt great at the end of the walk. And let's be clear, I have terrible feet that take a beating. They're very light weight. If you run, you'd probably enjoy them. They have thick tread, which will be great for hiking. But with being light, they feel more like runners than hikers. Very cushy.Pretty sure I'm done with heavier Moabs given how much more comfortable these are & the fact that (so far) they are water proof. I'm holding my judgement on that until I've worn them longer on a very wet day. And I will be back to change this review if they prove to leak.
Great mids, light weight, good support for long days on your feet. Very comfortable, no need to break in. Waterproof and athletic looking. I wear them daily to work and they've been great thus far.
Comfortable and wide! They probably are not going to be very durable and they could have a bit more ankle support but for the price I still enjoy them!
AMAZING! Never had to break them in, and even though they do not come in Wide, they were still comfortable, even with my hallux rigidus, because they have a rocker sole. I did not want to take them off they were so comfortable. I wore them on a trip to Central America, lots of hiking and muddy mountain trails; they were perfect!
I am an avid hiker and I normally wear rugged, heavy/rigid hiking shoes. Despite this, I wanted to try a softer/lighter pair, especially for traveling. This pair seemed like it would fit that need. The pros: Lightweight, no break-in period, stylish, true to size fitting, and comfortable*. I wore them straight out of the box and did 4 miles on my treadmill and the next day, 4 1/2 miles on a trail with no blistering or other issues. The tread was grippy and my feet didn't overheat. Definitely good for dry hikes. The cons: I did have to put a sports insole* in, but that is fairly normal for me. The biggest con though is these are NOT waterproof, even with a waterproofing spray added. This is extremely frustrating. I hike in all weather conditions and am often on muddy and boggy trails.I really wanted these to work but the whole not waterproof thing is a bummer. I'll keep them for day-to-day errands and easy walks, as they are comfy (like gym shoes), but when it comes to hiking? I'll stick with my tried and true kicks (aka Obo.z Bridgers).
Love these shoes. I take a 9.5 in Merrell. These fit great.
