A perfect all-purpose athletic shoe

I've worn Merrell shoes for about 15 years. They just seem to fit my feet perfectly with their wide toe box and narrow heel. I am over 70, not a hiker, but do lots of fitness walking and sightseeing when we travel.I've tried other brands like Brooks but they are not as good a fit. Merrells do not have a ton of cushioning like so many other shoes these days, but as a senior, I want support, stability and comfort -- too much cushioning makes me feel like my feet have lost their "road feel". So I have been staying with trail running type shoes which offer great stability and traction. The last pair of Merrells I had were super comfortable but the traction nubs on the sole were almost too pronounced and they were catching on steps, carpet, etc. These are much less noticeable and the shoe is outstanding for comfort. However, I can understand that many would not like the lack of a tongue -- it is definitely harder to put on . I find it no trouble at all if I use a shoe horn and I love the fact that there's no tongue slipping around during the day. Anyway, we all have to find what works for our feet and these happen to work for me. I bought several pairs to put away because unfortunately Merrell always changes their style rather quickly.

Comfortable

I love these! They are cute and comfy. My only complaint is that they are not great when wet. They can be slippery so I don't recommend for use on wet terrain.

Non adjustable and too tight in ankle

These are almost impossible to get on due to the formed, non-adjustable ankle and tongue. My feet tend to swell towards the end of the work day and they're uncomfortably tight by then. Comfortable otherwise, roomy toe box and good arch support but the tight ankle area ruins it.

Very comfortable!

I would have gotten larger size. Very tight fit and hard to put on feet. But very comfortable.

Comfortable

These sneakers are so light and comfortable. I did notice the reviews that stated that it is hard to put on, but it is not meant to be a slip on sneaker, it's laced. Overall I am happy I purchase it because it fits like a glove and gives the perfect amount of support. Worth the buy.
