First and foremost, WARM!
Or is waterproof, first and foremost? Or is it comfort? All three are most and equally important to me. Oh, and they can't be lace-ups, because I don't have the patience or time to sit there and lace them up, every time my dog wants to go out. They could even be ugly, but if they're warm, waterproof, comfortable, and easy to put on, I would love them. The Coldpak 3 Thermo Mid Zip Waterproof Snow Boot is IT! They are WARM! They are WATERPROOF (not just water repellent)! They are SOOO COMFORTABLE! They are easy to put on (there's a short zip)! And they are CUTE, to boot (har har)! I tried several other styles (even 2 or 3 other Merrells) and a few other brands - too big, too small, rubbed my shins, too heavy, etc. I haven't been so excited about a pair of snow boots since I was a kid! Now all I need are Coldpak 3 Thermo Waterproof GLOVES!

Long Break-In, but Warm
These shoes are pretty nice. I believe they will last me a long time. It'll probably take me years to get them broken-in enough that I will enjoy wearing them, though. The upper material is very stiff and doesn't make for the most comfortable wear. I'm hoping that will change over time.They keep my feet very warm and I haven't slipped on the snow/ice, yet, so they seem to be doing what I purchased them to do.

Wanted to love these
I needed a pair of warm, waterproof, winter boots with some traction for walking. These boots fit the bill. They're fairly light weight and have good grip. They're warm. They keep my feet dry. The footbed is very comfortable. The trouble is the rigid lining inside the cuff. It's so stiff that it rubbed the skin off my shins the first time I wore them. I'm able to compensate by not zipping them completely closed or by tucking my pant legs into my socks, both of which result in less-than-optimal movement while walking. These boots would be ideal for short spurts, but not if you need to wear them for any length of time. FYI: I went up a half-size and they fit perfectly.

Great boots, warm and waterproof
Warm and waterproof. Bought them for my Mom and she loves them. Only caution is you can’t just slip into them, need to sit down and pull them on to wear.
