Good hiker/sneaker with good support.
I really like these hiker/sneakers. They fit well (as expected) and have great support. I had foot/ankle surgery several years ago and my foot tends to roll to the outside a bit when I walk. Orthotics and custom orthotics didn’t help. But these Merrels are strong and made with leather so my foot cannot roll. It helps to give me better stability whether walking or hiking. I usually need an additional arch support but I haven’t had to with this pair. The shoe is a bit on the stiff side but not uncomfortable. Good support = happy feet!

Great shoes!
I am a fan of Merrill shoes, because of their quality and design. These ones had great arch support, which I needed. I got them for work because of how comfortable and durable they are. They are great for work, but not slip resistant, but that's ok, because they never claimed to be. I also love the color.

Over all a great shoe
First off, I have wide feet and find it hard to find comfortable shoes for me. I usually never purchase shoes online but I did this time only because my friend had the exact pair and those were already broke in. To my surprise they were actually wide enough so those of you that have normal width feet these should fit very comfortable for you. I do wish now I would have ordered a wide width but these do work for me because the toe box does give you plenty of room. But, I knew I had to go up a 1/2 size from hers. The shoes are true to size for sure. I wear an 8 1/2 in all shoes and that's what I ordered. Size if a true 8 1/2. While breaking them in I find it somewhat uncomfortable at the bend of the toe area toward the outside of shoes. I'm hoping this will continue break in with no problems but I'm not sure they will. All in all I really do like this shoe for hiking. They are sturdy and solid but not actually waterproof - they will resist water to some extent but eventually the water does come through. They do dry very fast though! I have placed about 6 grocery store plastic bags in each shoe to help stretch them out and it did work. I feel as though the soles are kind of hard and does not have cushion at all. But, after putting in my orthopedic insoles it did make a difference. I believe you really would want some kind of insole for these because there is not cushion on inside which makes the ball of my feet kind of sore after walking a good distance. Hope this helps.
