Excellent Hiking boots, worth the price. My last pair of Merrells lasted 10 years.

These are excellent hiking boots. Comfortable and well made. I had my last pair for almost 10 years. The are warm so I don't need heavy sox ( at least not now). Good ankle support and toe room is perfect. Love the color.

Comfort right out of the box

Super comfortable lightweight shoe and great fit. Enough support without any foot fatigue after whole day of hiking. Outer shell seems to repel water I can rinse off the dust from hiking without problems. No blisters and comfortable fit right out of the box. I ordered my usual size. One time I fell off a stepping rock and submerged my foot entirely in river and whole shoe/foot was soaked. Even though water was saturated in the shoe I was able to hike out for another 2 hrs without discomfort! The shoes air dried for few days and are good as new! Definitely recommend and worth the purchase. Quality shoe. So great the whole crew got Merrells. They look decent and better in person, kind of expected ugly hiking shoes but was pleasantly surprised. We all got different colors and they are all pretty cute.

GREAT hiking boots which are anatomically correct

I have always had great success with Merrell boots and these are no exception. They truly are waterproof and felt great from day one. I always thought I had to break in new boots slowly, but Merrell boots seem to just feel great from day one. The waterproofing is outstanding and truly works. The comfort level is great, and another thing I really like is the color of these boots. They are gray but with the blue trim, they look like denim blue so they go with everything. The wide toe box is a must for me, and should be for you as well. Ladies, it's insane to cram our toes into little pointed shoes! This deforms our feet and results in many types of foot problems. All in the name of fashion? I think not.I developed a bunion a few years ago and did my research only to find my "hip" pointy shoes were creating the problem. I bought a set of soft silicone toe spreaders which I wore faithfully and the bunion is no more. It did some time to get my feet to feel comfortable in toe spreaders, but in time I found them quite comfortable. AND no more bunion! Kudos to Merrell for making an anatomically correct shoe for us. Health and comfort should come before fashion. Thank you Merrell!

Great shoe, smaller than expected

A solid shoe for sure, but VERY tight. I wear a 7.5 in everything, so I went up a half size for this based on the reviews. The 8 was so tight my feet are still tingling from walking around the living room in them to try them out. If I reorder I will probably go a full size and a half up and get these in a 9.Because I couldn't use them comfortably and want to return them without any wear and tear, I took them off pretty quickly so I can't speak to anything else about the shoe. It does feel very sturdy, and all the detail work is great. It's a good looking shoe, with a reliable heft to it, and the soles look perfect for trails of any kind. Also I ordered the "Bungee Cord" color and just a heads up they're greyer than the advertised item image, and the details are brighter pink than the item picture. The review pics people are sharing that list this color are a much better gauge of the actual colors.

Good fit, good support and available in WIDE WIDTHS!

I purchased these to replace my old "men's" leather Wolverine hiking boots. We are planning a trip to the Grand Canyon and needed some light weight, comfortable hiking boots, however they will mostly be worn for hiking the woods in Northern WI where we live. I have wide feet and high arches, so always have a very hard time finding women's boots in a wide width. I usually end up purchasing a men's 6.5 or 7 and putting in arch supports, I so was very excited to find a women's hiking boot, in a wide width, and with arch support. I usually wear a women's size 8 or 8.5 depending on how they run, so I purchased both a size 8 and 8.5 for comparison. The 8 provided enough room for my toes in the width, but my big toe came a little too close to the edge of the boot. I don't like feeling the end of my shoe with my big toe when I walk and didn't want to depend on them stretching with wear. The 8.5 is a little loose, but better than too tight. They feel very comfortable right from the start. So far, I have only hiked a short distance in the woods around our house, but they were very comfortable, no aching feet or blisters. I am older and have started having problems with my arches and ankles. In time I may end up putting in special arch supports, but they so far feel very comfortable and feel like they will provide me with the support I need. The grip seems adequate, but were a little slippery though on wet leaves and rocks, but not as much as my insulated Wolverine's I wear in the winter. To be fair, we still had some melting snow in the woods that day, which can be a little icy and slippery. I avoided the usual spring time standing water, so can't comment on how waterproof they are. My socks did stay dry through the little bit of wet snow I walked through. What little mud I did get on them, brushed off easily the next day after it dried. I do wish they came in a darker color though, like the Moab 2 boots that are not waterproof, as I fear the light tan is going to look dirty and dingy pretty quickly. They are very expensive, but with my old foot challenges, overall, I am very pleased with my purchase and would highly recommend them to anyone, especially if you have problem feet!

Fantastic out of the box

I needed to replace some Salomon hikers I've had for10 years and had been through several countries in Africa and Asia as well as treks through Europe. I had tried Merrells in the past and they never fit but I wasn't happy with the quality of the current Salomon line and just tried these on a whim.I was all ready with a roll of moleskin but these were so comfortable, there was no break-in needed. They look good, have great support and there was no sliding around the toe box. I've now done multiple 4-5 mile hikes (moderate by All Trails rating) and am still very happy with them.
