Best boots I've owned
These are exceptional. True fit, great walking comfort and warm feet! They are not high, so I need other boots for deep snow, but for every day use, I couldn't be more pleased.

I LOVE these boots. They don't keep my feet super warm, but they are comfortable to wear indoors at my day job. I didn't realize there was a zipper on the side - it makes them SO easy to slip on and off around the house for outdoor tasks.
Super high quality
For those wondering about what size to order, this is the best I can tell from other reviews and my own experience: if you have narrow feet, order your usual size. If your feet are wider, maybe order a size up. My feet and ankles are narrow, and my regular size fit perfectly. I hope this helps. Also, if you want to return these, you must do so to Slovakia. They will pay for your return postage up to $20. I thought of returning them, but it would have cost me $75.
I normally wear a 6.5-7 but purchased 7.5 and they fit perfectly. They did not have wide widths so I got 7.5M. I have a wide foot and high instep so shoes are a challenge. These are extremely warm and would only work in cold seasons. I wear soft thin wool socks under them in Alaska. Great for hiking and seem pretty water resistant, sturdy ankle support and built to hold up in wet weather conditions. These are not rubber boots so don't expect a miracle if you step in the lake.
Love that this came with zippers - that was a huge selling point. I found it easy to zip down/up. Bought it for a winter trip to Japan. I spent a really long time looking at reviews on sizing all over the web since our local Merrell doesn't have a winter line (I live in a tropical country) so I have no choice but to rely on reviews. I bought this specifically to hike in so I needed a slightly bigger fit to accommodate feet swelling for days of hiking. If you are doing the same, I highly recommend to size up. Based on Merrell size chart, I am a US size 7.5 women's regular, I went up to a size US 9 and with 1 thick wool socks and a change in insole (slightly thicker and bouncier), it fit perfectly with room for toes to wiggle. exactly what I need. It will really depend on your needs but if you intend to add 1 layer of thick socks, you need to size up AT LEAST 1 size bigger. If you will use just thin-medium thickness for socks and for just simple walks, at least half size bigger. Merrell hiking shoes that are at least mid-cut and higher, with insulation and padding really runs small. I will only recommend to go true to size if you have really narrow feet and don't intend to use it with winter socks. But then, this is a winter hiking boot so it is given to size up!It's so comfy too. No break in period at all.
First let me say I love Merrell shoes and boots. These boots are good looking and comfortable. The Vibram sole is slip resistant. They are warm, however. On a walk on a 30-degree day, they were great. Working to scrape an inch of snow off my driveway on a 30-degree day, not so much. My feet were freezing (even with wool socks). I need a pair of boots for walking in the winter, but these didn't work out for me in cold, wet conditions. Definitely not as warm and comfortable as my 15-year-old Merrell snow boots.
