Great value.
These shoes from Mexico are the real deal — very authentic and beautifully made with quality leather. The craftsmanship shows, and they fit true to size. They have a classic, handcrafted look that’s a step up from your everyday loafers or lace ups. They’re on the dressier side, perfect for when you want something stylish but still relaxed. Not super cushioned, and the grip was a little slick at first, but it improved with wear. I wouldn’t choose them for long walks, but they’re great for special occasions or casual settings where you want to look put together.
These are super comfortable for days off and around the house. The leather is OK quality, and has a nice casual look. the size is a bit large, but I suppose comfort is the emphasis here. The list price seems a bit steep for what they are though.
Everything I hoped for and more. The craftsmanship is outstanding—you can really tell they’re handmade with care. The genuine tan leather looks and feels premium, with a rich tone that only gets better as it breaks in.The closed-toe and lace-up design offers a perfect blend of traditional style and modern fit. They’re easy to adjust for comfort and stay securely on your feet. What impressed me most is how breathable they are, even with the closed-toe structure. I’ve worn them on hot days, and they keep my feet cool and dry.As for comfort—top notch. The leather softens up nicely after a few wears, molding to your feet without losing shape. And the crepe sole is a great touch: flexible, cushioned, and provides decent traction on a variety of surfaces.Whether you're going for a casual summer look or want a stylish nod to Mexican tradition, these sandals deliver. Stylish, comfortable, and built to last. I’d gladly buy another pair in a different color.
My initial impression when I opened the box was "is this real leather?" and "what color is this?" I does appear to be real leather, and smells like it. The leather is quite thin. The color is what really starts throwing positive impressions out the door. I have never seen a leather dye this color. It almost appears to be like a paint or a synthetic sealant. The color I was expecting was tan; what I got was a light "buff" with hints of pink. I took two pictures next to a stained ash wood and a darker stained oak for color comparison.I ordered a size 10, and they fit fairly accurately. Since they are leather they should be able to stretch out a bit, as they fit well with no socks currently. They are not comfortable though; I'm going to have to wear socks at least until they are broken in better. The tongue is sewn awkwardly and upper rubs uncomfortably on the outer sides of my feet. These would probably cause blisters or cuts if worn for an extnded period. For the current listed price of $69.99 I cannot recommmend these. I think the style (woven design) and the fact that do appear to be real leather don't warrant a 1-star, but the weird color and lack of comfort warrant major deductions and cannot be considered a good value for something I will probably not wear anywhere near what I hoped I would, if ever.
I'd give these 3.5 stars if I could. 3 seems a little unfair, 4 a little too generous. Having been to Mexico a couple dozen times in my life, I've seen their leather footwear being sold all over but never decided to try a pair until now.The first thing I noticed out of the box is that they are much lighter in color than I was expecting. I thought they would be a light brown leather color as the pictures indicate, but they're actually much lighter than that. They are like a very beige or tan color. This isn't the end of the world, but I would prefer a darker true brown leather color.I typically wear a size 10.5 shoe and I ordered a size 11 just to be safe and I'm glad I did. The 11 fits me just fine. I think a little extra space in a shoe like this is helpful too because the leather rubbing right on my foot could be uncomfortable if I was really snug in there.I do like that they are real leather and appear to legitimately be hand made. The smell of the real leather out of the box is amazing. It has been weeks since I first opened the box and I still smell that new leather smell which I love. While these aren't something I would go on long walks with, I think they're kind of nice to just have around the house. I won't be doing any serious work in them either, but for things like walking to the mailbox, hanging out on the deck, a quick walk of the dog, that's what I'll be using them for. Minus the color, they look nice if you're interested in that Mexican / western sort of look.I know you can get this style of shoe cheaper in Mexico (when I was last there I saw similar shoes for 500-600 pesos, which is about $25-30 USD. But then again, these are shipped to your door and imported so what can you expect.
As a child my abuelo and his hermanos wore these huaraches all summer on the beaches of southern New Jersey. They are as much of a summer staple as the linen cubano shirts with a simple stripe down one side. I was tickled pink when I found these for my husband. These are everything I hoped they would be for him. The leather is superb, even if it is a bit lighter than what it pictured. I would call it a buff color, and it matches far more than the incredibly warm brown pictured. The lining of the sandal is fine, thin, soft leather instead of the suede that is pictured. This allows for better breathability and keeps feet cooler. Because these sandals are made for summer use, walking on the beach, in the desert, or along hard, dry roads, they do not have thick soles like sneakers. These are high end quality for the man who wants classic gentlemanly style. These look good with jeans, cargo pants, the right style of shorts, dress pants, chinos, beachwear, etc... Take these on your next cruise or vacation in a warm area.If your feet run close to the next size, definitely size up. My husband tends to need a 10.5 US and I ordered 11. They fit perfectly.
