Lots of bounce, awkward for heel strikers

I am not a fast runner, but I do run 5k's 3-4 times a week. The shoe gives plenty of bounce and I do feel the rocker throwing you forward. If you adjust your stride to become more efficient while using the rocker, I do believe your times will become faster. I will have to try these for a few more runs but I am a heel striker typically running in Hoka Mach 5s or Brooks Ride 15s, and the heel angle is quite sharp making it feel quite awkward if you heel strike. The sweet spot is landing on the front of your heel. Stability-wise, I wish I had a little more rear foot stability. Forefoot comfort is perfect. Overall, I think these will fit specific runners who don't heel strike, have a relatively narrow foot, and do not need much stability.

This is a racing shoe, not a walking shoe

This is a shoe with a purpose, and that purpose is speed runs. They are not meant for landing on your heels, especially since there is really no heel. These are meant for midfoot to forefront strikes, and they help propel you forward. Considering all that, I will reiterate that these are really designed for racing and fast runs. I have another pair of shoes that have a rocker geometry meant to propel you forward, but these Mizuno's take that a lot farther in the lack of heel.I wear a size 12, and I find these to be true to size. However, if you are on the upper end of size 12, they may feel small. They are very lightweight. I weighed my size 12, and it weighed 10.1 ounces. They have a very cushioned feel, which can make a shoe heavy. The soles have a deep cavity down the middle that basically divides the sole in half. I would guess this is at least partly to keep the shoes light. These have a stack height of 35mm in the heel, and 34 mm in the forefoot, so these are pretty tall shoes that have an almost zero drop. When I took them out of the box, I noticed that the ankle and heel have very little padding. That is usually a red flag for me. I also like a least a little padding in the tongue, but these have no padding in the tongue. Somehow, neither of these things turned out to be an issue. They feel comfortable in those areas, even without padding. I was also able to lace them so that they did not move on my feet, and they still did not cause any problems with the lack of padding in the tongue.I really got these to walk in, and they probably aren't the best for that. While they have a super cushioned feel, I heel strike when walking, as most people do. These will be more appropriate for very fast walking, so I will use them for that, but not so much for more casual wear or walking. I ran at one point in my life until injuries finally made that no longer possible. When I ran, there wasn't a shoe anything like this on the market. I did not actually jog; I ran sprint intervals. This would have been an absolutely stellar shoe for that, as I ran on my toes.Even though these shoes won't be the walkers for me I wish they were, it would be wrong to take any stars away. They are not designed for walking, or even slow runs where you heel strike. These are a great pair of shoes made for a specific purpose, and that purpose is racing and speed runs. I believe they would excel for that purpose.

running—and only running—shoes

My normal, everyday go-to-the-grocery store shoes are Brooks Adrenaline GTS. I used these as my running shoes when I was training, and I also used these as my daily walking shoe.Compared to those, these Mizuno shoes are MUCH lighter. My socks might weigh more. And the spring in the sole is absolutely amazing. These are very bouncy, and very impact-reducing.The downside, and the reason for only 3 stars, is the shape of the sole. My Brooks shoes are flat from heel to ball; but these Mizunos are not. From the arch back to the heel, these shoes are rounded. If you are running, this is a perfect profile to prevent heel strike. If you are doing anything else, including standing around between sprints, these shoes are inappropriate. These shoes are way too specialized for me.

Not sure of the price.

These are a good pair of shoes, they are raised in the middle which are really nice for running, and they tie on easy and fit great. I have a few concerns though, and that is with how well insulated they are. I know running shoes are supposed to be breathable, but these really let a lot of air through to the point that it doesn’t even keep your feet very warm when you aren’t running. I don’t think it’s worth the price for what you are getting, there are some fantastic running sneakers you could get for half the price.

Great for running

Mizuno did a great job designing this shoe. It does a great job for a running shoe, but not so great for gym workout. Overall, it it a good choice for comfort and use.
