I LOVE these shoes! If I could get another pair exactly like these, I would in a heartbeat! They are so comfortable and reduce the pain in my feet.
I ordered these shoes after having the mizuno wave catalyst 2 as my running shoes for awhile. They were discontinued, so I was a little apprehensive about a new style because I liked my others so well... but it was time to get a new pair. I LOVE these shoes! I really like the lower cut and they are very light but have good support. The color is cool too and I’ve found myself wearing them for errands too. :) I’ve been happy with each of my mizuno shoes so I don’t think you can go wrong. I don’t find these too narrow (as other reviewers have said) but they are a snugger fit. My feet run a bit narrow but not enough to buy a narrow fit usually.
As nearly all reviews of this shoe suggest, buy a size larger than you usually wear, because this shoe runs small. I've heard that you should have at least a thumb between your longest toe and the front of the shoe, unless you like your shoes fit very close to your toes, in which case you might try going up 1/2 a size from your normal one. Another thing I had to do--use the extra shoe lace hole (the sixth one down from the one the closest to your toes)--the one along side the fifth lace hole, and that will tighten the heel and give you some more mid sole strength, as well as reducing any extra width you might find with a whole size larger. The bright turquoise color was a stretch for me (I usually buy running shoes in gray or dark blue), but I'm getting to like it--a nice change from winter drabs.
My old running shoes were Mizuno Catalyst and they were my favorite shoes until these Mizuno Shadows!! I needed a new pair desperately since my old ones were falling apart. I run and do stroller strides workout classes 4 days a week. I saw these blue/black Shadows for $31 on amazon and ordered them up in my usual size 6. (I am a 5 1/2 or 6 in all shoes, always a 6 in Mizuno). These fit true to size on me. Good amount of room and flexibility in the toebox, and the heel feels fairly stable (I tried them with and without my orthotics and they feel great both ways- but I always put orthotics in when I run). The best surprise was the color! I didn’t particularly like the blue/black combo online, but it was the cheapest- so I went with it. So glad I did!! In person the color is a deep turquoise blue- very bright and fun!! Definitely worth the $!
Love these Mizunos. Have been a Mizuno fan since discovering the Wave Riders years ago. The newer Wave Riders haven't been as suitable for me so decided to test run other shoes in their stock. Loved the EVO Ferris sadly though they are no longer available. Loved the Kazan trail shoe. Now have just bought the Wave Shadow 2 and from first wear are perfect. There is no cutting into my ankles and my knees, hips and ankles have been pain free. Other reviews stated the heals need time for adjustment. I haven't found any problem with it. For anyone who wants less soul and more road feel these work. Up to five miles they have been great. I have been a runner for a couple decades now and have run in Adidas, Filas, and New Balance. Keep loving the Mizunos.
I have multiple pairs of Mizuno Running Shoes. They are the best! As you can see from the photo, I keep updating my selections. I keep older pairs around for messy jobs- walking by the creek or mowing lawn and I try to keep a pair in more presentable conditions for trips to the store or going out with friends. I walked over 5 miles each day, sometimes on a beach and sometimes on pavement. They hold up well, and are comfortable and lightweight. I wear a size 9 and each pair is size 9 and fit great out of the box. The mint green are my newest purchase and I think they are really pretty!
Have never been so disappointed. Mizuno have been my favorite shoes for four years, never even considered trying other brands. This pair is quite literally the worst Ive ever had, which says a lot, considering I was a Kmart child growing up. These are tight, hard, thin, and flat. My feet were burning after just 5 miles. Awful, awful shoe. I should've known why they were priced so low but didn't expect anything from Mizuno would be BAD. Cannot think of one positive thing to say. Really awful to have wasted this money on a pair of shoes that aren't even good enough for walking around.
