Solid, supportive, true-to-size tennis shoe -- good news for NB fans
Wore for grocery shopping yesterday to stretch out and adjust, then wore today for 2 hours of tennis on clay. Initial positive impression. EE seems like a true EE, not the sometimes too narrow EE coming out of New Balance. I wear ankle supports for tennis and even with these and two pair of socks had plenty of room both in width and depth of heel, felt very secure but not cramped. Cushiony but supportive, not soft or sloppy, Some reviewers report these are a little heavy but I did not find them noticeably heavier than my 1005s which were considered lightweight. Feet felt good even after two hours on court. These are comfortable enough that I even wore them home from tennis, instead of switching to cushiony NB running shoes like I usually do. Only dig on these is not a performance issue but an appearance one. The mesh gets a little damp if you sweat much, and on clay the mesh seemed to absorb the dust like crazy, so the shoes now look two tone, black where they are rubber, and grey where they are mesh. I don't care about this, but if you play on clay you might want to be prepared for sort of a two tone shoe.Assuming no problems like early failure or quick wear soles pops up, I expect to bump this up to a 5 star in a few months. Solid, good fitting, supportive shoe for tennis.

Great fit and comfort
What's most important to me is the comfort while playing tennis. These New Balance tennis shoes offer a perfect fit, are comfortable, and are light weight. All of this means they give you the ability to run at top speed to get your your play. Stop and go play is easy with the somewhat hard soles over the soft cushion rubber they use. Its so typical of NB to make the perfect sports shoe. And they look good.

Great tennis shoe
Great tennis shoe. Light weight. Wide toe box. Nicely cushioned insole, heel, and ankle support. Maybe a little longer at size 11 than my adidas, but not by too much. My right foot/step is a little flat footed, and these feel good. My previous tennis shoes left me with a lot of foot pain after coaching and hitting with my students. These make practice more enjoyable.

Great shoe for pickleball, but the sole just doesn't last for the everyday player.
I've looked everywhere to find a better pickleball shoe, but haven't been able to find something that will work better for me (Mens - size 10) than the NB 1006. I'm on my 7th pair during a three-year-plus period. That's good because I'm satisfied that the shoes work well for pickleball, but bad because, like clockwork, the soles wear out and the cushioning on the sole deteriorates forcing me to buy new sneaks every five months. I've pushed the purchasing window at times by applying 'Shoe Goop' to the soles, but this is a very temporary fix and does not replace the actual tread design on the bottom of the shoe. I also add sole inserts once the original cushioning breaks down.Competitive pickleball, particularly when played on outdoor courts, demands a lot of side to side (and sliding) motion, quick starts, and sudden stops. I'm 65, and play pball at least 4x every week. Each time, I play for a little over an hour, and many times for two hours or more. It works out to 6 to 7+ hours a week that I'm playing in these NB shoes. My feet are a bit wide and my ankles are not the strongest. I have a pronation that also affects my ankles. NB 1006 gives me the width, the toe box room and the ankle support I need to play with the confidence that my shoes are not going to contribute to injury. Don't get me wrong, I've turned my ankle in these sneaks, but that generally happens after the shoes have been played in for five months. Seriously, this is a very good court shoe. I can handle slipping in some inserts, but the tread life on these shoes just doesn't hold up to everyday play outside for more than five months. They fix that issue and this would be a very good court shoe.

They fit from the second you put them on and the sole lasts for quite a while.
Typical New Balance tennis shoe, they fit (if ordering the right size) without breaking in needed. They are very comfortable. I have a wide foot so extra large is a must. They lasted me more than a year and a half as a weekend warrior .Of course it depends on the way one plays on the court. There is an issue with the sole which collapses a bit at the heal area and also some of the white material ( plastic?) changes color from white to yellow after washing, on the white shoes. They are the best shoes for me and I just ordered my third pair of this model but it will be black this time.I hope my feet will not bake in them in the hot Phoenix summer sun. Lol.They are going to be my first black tennis shoes.Have fun!I just got them .Black, they look great, kind of ominous, like I mean serious business on the court.. lol..No surprises, they fit like a glove just like the others . A bit pricey but I am kind of hooked to this model and cannot go back to cheaper models. As long as New Balance does not change things for the worse I am not even going to look elsewhere .Some reviews talk about New Balance messing up with the shoe sizes.I have been using New Balance for more than 6 years and the sizes stayed the same , I never had to adjust to a new size.At least that has been my experience.

Comfortable court shoe for Pickleball
Great comfort, but runs small. Wearing a full size larger than usual. However top quality material and finish. Soft fabric around toebox provides excellent support, but gentle on toes. Excellent court shoes.
