great trail runners… but size up.
I love these shoes! The color, the toe protector, the arch support - everything. I did swap out the laces, though. I found a pair in the exact same icy-blue color as the originals, just a little wider, and I prefer the look.I’ve only taken them on one hike so far, but they were incredibly comfortable right out of the box with no break-in period needed. The tread gripped really well on wet rocks, trails, and other natural surfaces. However, they were extremely slippery on wet indoor floors. I walked through a gas station while the floor was being mopped, and it felt like stepping on ice. My husband, in regular tennis shoes, didn’t have nearly the same issue. Not a dealbreaker, but worth mentioning.Sizing is another thing to note. I usually wear a women’s size 10 in almost every brand, but with New Balance I always have to size up to an 11. At first it was frustrating returning pairs that were too small, but now I know to just order an 11 right away with this brand.Overall, I really love these shoes and will likely buy another pair.

Good multipurpose recreation shoe; not so much for hiking
Let me start out by saying that I was a little disappointed in the sole of this shoe for technical trail hiking. Most trail running shoes have serious tread, this was more like a traditional running shoe. It didn't handle rocks and rougher terrain like I was hoping. I bought these for a service trip to South Africa and knew that we would have to hike to several of the locations we were working. Where there were cleared paths these shoes were fine, but as things became much more rural and we were trekking through the South Africa wilderness these became less reliable and I had to switch to my work boots. Now, we spent significant parts of our down time playing with the school children at the school we were working at -- these shoes were perfect for rugby and soccer games and served me well there. And, when I was able to do some cultural and tourist activities these shoes were incredibly comfortable for walking for long periods. The final verdict is these are good trail running shoes for well groomed and maintained trails, but don't get these as a lightweight alternative to hiking boots, or use on less travelled trails.

Very nice, comfortable shoe at a good price
Lightweight and comfortable shoe as I expect from NB. Great for regular wear around the house, walking, etc. Sale price was very good even if colorway selection was a bit limited in my size. Due to orthopedic surgery on 1 foot/ankle my normal NB width size is XXL (6E). While this model does not come in that width, it's supple materials & construction give me a very good fit by going up just a half size in XL wide.
