Quality and Durability.
Love these shoes. I had switched from New Balance to HOKA for my trail shoes, but the HOKAs proved less durable than NB. So I went back to NB. Best cushioning ever, IMHO. Rugged, built well. I need wide fit and New Balance is only one of a handful of companies offering wide sizes. Fit is a bit small so I ordered ½ size bigger than with past New Balance shoes.

Comfy but less steady
I'm not sure how I feel about these shoes, by all accounts they are better than the previous model but I can't say I like them as much as the v7. The fit is fine, decent lockdown, seem well made and the megagrip outsole is always a welcome addition. For me personally tho I just don't care for the big jump in stack height combined with extremely soft foam, they just feel too mushy and unsteady now, I did tons of hiking in the v7 and felt confident with every step, these new v9s tho feel like they could easily roll in uneven terrain with such a thick slab of marshmallow soft foam underfoot.

I’ve taken them everywhere—from the Dolomites to the Rocky Mountains to trails up and down the East Coast—and they’ve never let me down. Besides looking stylish, they are light and supportive.The toe protector has saved me many times on rocky terrain, and the wide version feels great on my feet even after a full day of hiking. Great trail runner . . .
Not as cushy or bouncy as the *New Balance Men's Fresh Foam X More Trail V3 Running Shoe* but I only bought one of those and cannot find them any more but these are a good pick for trail running. I'm an older runner and need the cushioned shoes for the down hills. But these have a much better outsole like a proper trail runner should have. Not quite as wide as the X More Trail V3 but it does not seem to be an issue. I may edit this after 250 miles to say how well they are wearing. I have 416 miles on the X More Trail V3 and they are still comfortable but they are wearing out a little but I think these should last as long or longer.

Comfy but unstable
Like other reviews, I feel the shoes are very cushioned and comfortable for walking. I’ll wear them on smoother trails but they’re much easier to roll than my other hiking shoes. I no longer wear them on rough trails
