Measure your foot before buying!
My Partner has extra wide width feet, which he didn't know when we bought these the first time. 2 returns later, we struck gold! He needed steal toe shoes for work, and his boots were making him miserable. I found out his shoe brand of choice: New Balance was making work shoes and jumped on the chance to buy them. I wish they would've fit perfect the first time, but his mother has always bought his shoes so he had no idea what he wore besides 13. It was an annoying adventure to find the right fit, but oh boy! They are perfect now! He claims he doesn't even need an insert. They are super cushioned and cradle his high arch, taking away the stress from the miles of walking he does. His back pain has gone away with these shoes too! Something we didn't expect, but we're pleasantly surprised about. He even wears these when he's not at work now. And those God awful boots that he was wearing? Safely stored away for if they are ever needed again, but as for now they are collecting dust, while these babies shine like the stars they are. He works 13 hour days, in a warehouse environment, constantly on his feet, walking, stooping, bending, carrying, etc. He spends a good 85-90% of his day on his feet in some capacity. If you're thinking about these as a replacement, I will tell you to just do it. There are no draw backs to these shoes. Even the price is agreeable. They are well made, super comfortable, and yes very safe.

Stiff at first but very comfortable once they're broken in.
I work in a factory and I often use overhead cranes to move material around and I got tired of making sure my feet were never under the crane at all times so I bought these. I liked the design because they didn't look as thick as a steel toe boot, and I wanted something comfortable since sometimes I walk more than three miles during a shift. When they first came, I tied the laces as tight as a running shoe but they were so stiff that they hurt my feet. My father buys a lot of New Balances shoes and he suggested to tie them very loose at first until they're broken in, and that really did the trick. After about three weeks of wearing them they're broken in and they're much more comfortable, and my feet never hurt even after a 12 hour shift. I was skeptical at first about the static electricity dissipating insoles but after handling material that's notorious for carrying a strong static electricity charge I can confirm that they work really well. I usually only feel a small tingle of static electricity in my fingertips and most of the time I don't feel any shock at all. It's a nice change from having to slap a piece of metal machinery with an open palm to ground myself after handling material. But because they come with the insoles already in the shoe, you don't have to buy seperate insoles.

Good Work Shoe - Fixed My Sore Feet!
Got a new job where they required steel toes and oil/slip resistance. They gave us a voucher for up to $140 to use at their partner shoe stores, where I found nothing in a wide and nothing less than $150! So now I have a useless pair of uncomfortable boots that my company paid for MOST of.I should've just gone with my original instinct and bought New Balance from the start. I unfortunately did not know NB was even making an industrial shoe line until a coworker told me that both they and Sketchers were. I have trusted NB for years with my wide feet and comfy shoes, so I found these. They immediately fixed the pain issue I was having in the new job. Much greater sole padding than the boots, and the widest work shoes I've ever slipped into! Definitely worth the extra width. They are steel toe, oil/slip resistant, and even waterproof to an extent. They are made of leather mostly, so they aren't very light, but they aren't nearly as heavy as boots either. The material is pretty durable and so is the tread so far.I have only one minor issue and that is what is in my pic. We have high pressure hoses to spray our shoes off at work to prevent the spread of listeria (food industry), and the very first time I sprayed these, some of the black coloring on the front toe of the shoe came off in spots where you can faintly see the blue plastic behind the coloring. It doesn't affect the performance of the shoe, but it is annoying knowing I have blue spots on my shoe now. I have not yet tried to polish them to see if that will fill in the spots, but every time I spray them off now I always use a light spray on top and in front of the shoe. The tread on the bottom handles full blast of the hose very well, however, so I am not too concerned - just slightly disappointed. Otherwise, great shoes!

Excellent lightweight work shoe
If you're looking for a lightweight and durable work shoe, this is it. I've tried different brands but I always come back to these New Balance. As stated, they are durable, my first pair lasted over two years of pretty intense use. In that two year span, they retained their comfort and support. There was no break-in period like you get with other shoes. The slip resistance is excellent. They may be a little more expensive than other brands up front, but you definitely get what you pay for here. Bottom line: they are like comfy tennis shoes with great work features like durability, slip resistance, and a non intrusive steel toe.
