Sub-par V4 - bring back the quality!

I really tried to have an open mind about these shoes. But New Balance really dropped the ball on this “upgraded” shoe. All the features which made the version 3 so great have been replaced by sub-par inferior upgrades. The toe box is considerably smaller, the support in these shoes is terrible…these version 4 are far too soft and lack the support and firmness that I needed to feel secure in these shoes.The overall feel and materials of these shoes feels inexpensive and lacking quality, especially for a shoe that was $200.00.Very disappointed with New Balance and will not be buying anything from this brand unless they bring back the quality that I became accustomed to and expected.

Quality issues?

First of all, I had to return the first pair I bought because they were too small. The shoes are comfortable and give me the support I need but the upper quality is iffy. The tongue isn’t firm at all and flops around making tying your shoes more of a task.I’ve had this pair for a couple months and highly doubt I will get another pair when these wear out.

Nice shoes

Overall I like the shoes. The way the insole supports the door is excellent and I have sufficient room in the toe box. I have two small complaints. I could use more cushion in the sole and the sides of the shoe could be slightly taller.I like that they are actually made in the USA and this is the primary reason I bought the shoes. I wish they made more shoes here but at least they try something no other athletic shoe maker will do.

NOT a good replacement for New Balance 847

The new balance 847 was my favorite shoe for over a decade. I bought more than a couple dozen pairs over this time in all the colors.When the 847 was recently discontinued, I called New Balance and asked what would be the best replacement given that I really like the support of the role bar in this shoe. I was told that the New Balance Men's Fresh Foam X 1540 V4 was the best replacement.This shoe is nothing like the 847 series. The last is different and the toe box is noticeably smaller. Walking in it felt weird! It was like New Balance was trying to emulate the design of some of the so-called zero gravity shoes that create a rocking motion for support and propulsion.Sure wish New Balance would make another great walking shoe like the 847 series.
