Best shoes on the market to fit over AFO's/ ankle-braces. They are durable, open very wide to accommodate the braces and fasten securely. I tried at least 3 other supposedly "extra wide" shoes that came nowhere near fitting. The New Balance are worth the extra money!!
My boys have been wearing NB for a few years. They are well made and wide enough for their wide feet. These new model has a problem it is not easy to open it because it is very strong vinco. The N shape make it harder to open than the old style. These shoes are not cheap. But, it does least so we will still buy it again.
We always go back to the kv990. After trying different models from NB, this model is the only one that is truly wide enough for wide feet. We had the kv990 last few school years and thought we'd try a different style this year, but no model was ever as comfortably wide. Now we are on our 4th pair! This year's version seems to have a more secure Velcro strap too.
Great shoes for my 4 year old. Hold up well to wear and tear. We have owned a few pairs and they are easy for him to get off and on by himself.
They run a half size small. Great shoes, except New Balance basically made the same shoes as the 880s and increased the price by $20.
If your child has wide feet, New Balance shoes might be the only shoes that fit correctly. This shoe is great in XW for chubby toddler feet, however the velcrostrap was a deal breaker for us because it prevented my child from moving his feet up and down properly. This version of the shoe with laces is the best shoe ever though! So keep in mind when you buy this shoe that the Velcro strap might not be very comfortable.
great shoes, this is my sons second pair. the velcro is only reason i'm not giving this shoe a 5 star. on the ends of the strap, its coming apart. aside from that the shoe is great
