Very nice shoe
I absolutely love these gortex new balance shoes. I was a bit worried about getting these because they only got 4 stars for the reviews. These are a beautiful blue color. I was worried because people said they were tight because of the gortex. I have found all new balance tennis shoes run 1/2 size small across the board and people should size up 1/2 size. I personally also size up another 1/2 size for foot swelling in the summer or thick socks in the winter, so I personally go up a whole size for my new balance tennis shoes. I normally wear a woman's size 6, but with new balance I buy a 7 and it always works for me. New balance are the only shoes I wear a 7 in. Now that I've gotten that out of the way, I am very pleased with this gortex shoe. I've only had them for a day so I can't comment on the water proof gortex. These shoes seem lighter in weight than my other NB 880's and they are not constricting at all even with thicker socks on (I'm in my sixties and very picky about the comfort of my shoes). The upper material is slightly stiffer than my 880's most likely because of the gortex. The foam on the inner foot bed is not as thick or as comfortable as my other NB 880's, but the outer sole is just as thick and comfortable. I have removable inserts (cheap Walgreens brand of odor eaters) that I put in these and they now are definitely as cloud like as my other 880's. These shoes exceeded my expectations.

Support breaks down too quickly
This is my second pair because of the added Gore-Tex (and beautiful color). But it will be my last. Unfortunately, the overall body and support of the shoe breaks down too quickly.

Comfortable and hold up nicely
A nice pair of shoes.. I have bad feet and these shoes are comfy and hold up nicely.. this is the second pair I’ve bought.. the first ones were still holding up nicely after year and a half of standing on my feet all day at work.. will continue to buy these shoes

Little short compared to other NB shoes
Shoes were a little on the short side compared to other New Balance shoes I own. They also looked awkward and big on my feet. I felt like I was wearing large house shoes. Not for me. As far as comfort, I don't know...I couldn't get past the way they looked on my feet and that my big toe was scrunched.

could use more cushion in the insole area.
