Great for 5K training if you don't need a lot of support

I started a 5K training program with an old set of shoes, I desperately needed an upgrade. I have used New balance shoes in the past, so I just started looking at what they had available in their new lineup. After reading some reviews online, I settled on this pair. It's now been a few weeks of running over 30 miles per week and these have been awesome. I don't need a lot of support when I'm running, so these are perfect for me. They are a light shoe that feel comfortable when I'm doing speed work on the track or running 8 mi on the weekend. I would definitely continue to buy these once I wear them out. There's not a lot of tread on these, so I'm a little concerned they will wear out fast especially since I primarily run on pavement. Time will tell!

Is New Balance the leader in running shoes? The FCR2 seems to make a case for it.

Where do I start? The era of supershoes for personal best racing or just running faster is upon us, and innovation is accelerating at a pace only slowed by the current state of the global supply chain. I’m a 57-year-old, hill-first runner who regularly does a lot of short, fast runs (5K-10K) with a lot of hills thrown in, usually asphalt but some trails too. I don’t race, but most of my hilly runs end up at about 9 minute paces, which is really fast (I think) for a slightly older runner.I recently purchased a couple of faster/race-day shoes mostly for my flatter runs (and minor hills) and they indeed “pop.” Well, at a fraction of the price of those $250-ranged shoes, the FCR2 gives me lots of pop, is lightweight, has toe splay room, and fits beautifully. Plus when I do those occasional non-hill runs, or just want to crank it up, the FCR2 is lightning fast and can seamlessly deliver those 7:15 miles when I feel up to it. A wonderful shoe that some may classify as a “trainer,” but if I can run 7:15 in them, they’d be my first choice for a race. Awesome shoe and I can’t get over how good New Balance is at cranking out amazing running shoes. They may be the best.

The softest!

New Balance shoes are unisex so I bought a woman's size 8.5 to get the fit of a man's size 7. I was seeking the softest ride possible to cushion my bad knees. I have tried the softest shoes in the lineups of Asics, Brooks, Nike, Adidas, Saucony, Mizuno and maybe a couple of others and none can match the comfort and light weight, both, of the FuelCell Rebel V2. Even Nike's clownshoe, the ZoomX Invincible Flyknit, their softest, is not as soft as the Rebel V2, though it comes close. But if you don't have a job in a circus you probably wouldn't want the Nike. Unfortunately, soft doesn't help my knees. Maybe there is no help. But I still love the Rebel V2. If you too are looking for soft and are willing to go a bit heavier for durability, I can also highly recommend the vaunted Asics Nimbus 23 and 24, and the Mizuno Wave Rider 25, both super comfortable.

Slightly Disappointed but would still recommend

Great looking and Incredibly comfortable shoes, feet feel like I’m walking on a cloud. However sneaker came apart between the sole of the shoe and the beginning of the canvas. Not a runner only wear for casual use, not even to work out in. Have several pairs and I rotate all of them to avoid wearing them out to quickly.

Really good shoe for the price

I bought these shoes based on recommendations from a running website. Several top Runners listed this as their training shoe of the year. After trying them on at a local store, I realized I would need to go a half size up because of how narrow they were. If you have average to wide feet, I would suggest you go up the half size. Once I started jogging in these, I could see why so many people love these shoes. They are super bouncy, they have good traction, and for the price they are hard to beat. If you are looking for a really good daily trainer, get these and try them out.

Love it

I had the same pair but in white 5 years ago. I loved it so much but it was worn down. I wanted to get a new same pair but NB has newer Rebel version and seems not producing this first generation anymore. My feet ball’s bone protrudes significantly. Coincidentally, the odd shape of the shoes fits my feet perfectly. So as soon as I see my size available , i know i have to get it. Already put on 3 miles run on it and it feels like running in cloud without the usual pressure I have to the ball.
