Great supportive shoe

I love these shoes and have been wearing them for over 10 years. I purchase new ones every yer and a half because I wear foot supports, but I keep the old ones for back ups and yard work and even those last well. They are so comfortable and give my feet, knees, and back the support I need to not be in pain while walking around or exercising. Im a big girl too so that's why i replace, but these are a good quality sturdy shoe that last.

Expensive Tennis Shoe, but Worth It

Many years ago, I purchased my 1st pair of New Balance 990s. The New Balance Store where I purchased them didn’t have the men’s version in my size and width, but they had the 990 women’s version (which looked just like the men’s 990) in a size 9 1/2 - 2E which fit me great, so I purchased them. By 2018, I could tell that the soles on the original 990s were going to wear out eventually, so I purchased my second pair of 990s as a backup. That pair were 990 V4s. I stuck with the same women’s size (no need to fix what ain’t broke) and I have been wearing them every day since early 2019. As of September 2023, the soles on the 990 V4s were still in great shape but small holes had started to form in the mesh fabric of the uppers on each shoe where the ball of each foot stretches the fabric, so I ordered another set of NB 990s, this time the V5s. The first thing that I noticed was that from the first moment that I put the 990 V5s on, they felt like they were already broken in. They fit my extra wide feet perfectly, with no discernible pressure points. They basically felt just like my old broken in 990 V4s. I have never experienced that feeling with a brand new set of tennis before. I haven’t started wearing the new V5s on a regular basis yet. I figure I can get another four to six months out of the old V4s before the holes in the uppers become visibly objectionable. Considering that I wear these tennis shoes exclusively every day, I consider four years to be a good lifetime for the 990 V4s. If I get four years out of the new 990 V5s, I will consider the relatively expensive New Balance 990 V5s a good investment!

Great Shoe For Work

I have worn Nike athletic shoes for nearly 40 years. I had a family member recommend the New Balance 900 series for a new job that required a lot of walking and standing. I was skeptical at first because I have a narrow foot. This shoe has been absolutely AMAZING in comfort and fit. I have gone back and forth between women and men sizes depending on the style of shoe. This women's version was a perfect fit for my feet. I now own three pairs and am looking forward to buying my next pair for everyday wear.Although this shoe is the most expensive shoe I've ever owned, it is well worth the price. I wish I had known about this shoe years ago.

Perfectly Balanced Shoe

I've been wearing these shoes for several months now and they are the best sneakers I've ever owned. They are wearing well and have remained supportive. They with well with my orthotics and provide good lateral support for walking long distances or standing for hours at work. They are worth the money. Support American made quality.. Buy this shoe!

Very Solid (Heavy) Stabilizing Shoe

If you've read any of my other reviews, you know I've been on a hunt for a somewhat lightweight athletic shoe with a sufficient amount of cushion for my heel pain and arch support for my flat feet (Yes, I have foot drama). These shoes are VERY well known for their stability and usefulness for heavier walkers. They are also pretty expensive, but when you have foot drama - you expect to be paying a bit more. So, here's my experience:Yay!- Attractive. These shoes have classic New Balance styling that is actually pretty attractive. I would definitely wear these out and about.- Stability. These are very stable. My foot feels secure in this shoes.- Arch Support. There is great arch support in this shoe.Meh...- These shoes feel clunky! They are pretty heavy (as shoes go) and that makes them feel clunky. I feel like my feet are dragging and clunking along.- Cushion. The stability definitely cuts into the cushion. They are definitely not pillow soft on my toes. They aren't hard...but not a lot of cushion.- The sizing was a bit tricky (and different from other New Balance shoes). I usually wear a wide in my New Balance shoes, I did not need a wide in these. If you are looking for a solid shoe, this one is for you. It feels pretty solid. Also, if you have really wide feet, these will likely be very comfortable. I would say this is great for a wide foot that wants a lot of stability. I like my shoes a bit more lightweight, so these are a no for me.

Comfortable shoe

I was going to return these as they didn’t fit like my original pair. The toe bed is wider and it seemed as if there was less arch and cushioning also the back of right shoe didn’t seem snug. As I was all set to complete my return after contacting Amazon and had a wonderful agent who was so nice and incredibly helpful. I have to add that he also contacted the seller for me who was so accommodating also. My husband suggested I try the shoes again and walk around the house for awhile, instead of just a few minutes. I started walking around the house and they started to feel more comfortable after an hour I decided to keep them. My feet felt really good. The wider toe bed will probably be better as my feet tend to swell in warmer weather. I also tied the laces a little snugger than when I first tried them on. I have so many issues with my feet that I’m so happy they’ll work out.

Best shoes

Before buying these, I bought a couple other shoes in size wide that ended up too narrow. These shoes are actually perfect for wide feet. I recommend buying the women/mens version instead of the kids. The kids one is almost $100 cheaper but it is not as comfortable and not as good quality. 7 wide in kids does not fit as nicely as an 8.5 wide in women's. Usually I am all for buying kids versions, but there is actual quality difference and it's worth the extra money.
