Perfect for camp!

I bought these for my son to go to nature camp. They are flexible enough to play soccer and other sports and rugged enough for hiking and climbing. There were rainy days and muddy trails but these kept his feet dry the whole time. The quality is really great and I will buy these every year!

Water resistant perfect for rainy weather

I’ve bought 3 pairs of these shoes in different sizes. My son has wide feet and these are the only waterproof/water-resistant shoe that fit. They look great and while they do seem to wear out faster than his other shoes they do the job of keeping his feet dry on rainy days. Bonus is they are flexible enough for PE and recess too.

great traction, good buy

Great quality, especially for the price. Really good traction. We hike and climb a lot so that's important. Bought for our 4 year old. Should have gotten a size smaller. Usually wears about a 12. Hoping 13 would give him room to grow. It does, but too much. we will save for next year.

Run small, normal laces, limited lifespan

I bought a different pair of Northside shoes locally and they had elastic laces. These do not. So if your kid hasn’t perfected tying laces yet, beware. My son reports that these shoes are comfortable on his wide feet, but I did have to size up a whole size for length. Runs small. The sole wears through within a year of daily use. That’s typically how long it takes for my son to go up a size anyway. Just don’t plan on using them as hand me downs. Appearance wise they look sharp, like high quality hiking shoes.

Great, affordable choice for my Boy Scout!

We were looking for a hiking shoe that wasn’t too pricey but was still good for basic Scout hikes. This show has been a great fit!

My son likes them but did not last.

Bought for my son. These shoes hve held up to his abuse. I ussually purchase Keen shoes because they are the only shoe that lasts longer than 1-2 months...His last pair lasted almost 8 months.....only reason we bought new ones was because his feet grew. This seem like they will hold up. He likes them and they have passed the 1 month mark and still look good.2 month upadate:Went back to Keens...My son wore a hole completely through the soles of the shoes to were his toes were hanging out...plus he started complaining of his feet hurting. My son is 8 and yes he is hard on shoes....the Keens hold up a heck of alot better. The last pair we got over 8 months of hard use out of them. He out grew out them before wearing any holes through the soles.....

Not a good fit

On the hunt for reasonable outdoors shoes for my 5 year old we ordered the Northside Cheyenne Hiking Boot. Not only did we get a box that contained two right shoes, they were also a different size - one was an 11, the other one a 13 (what I ordered). Make sure you always check that both shoes you receive are the same size!I did have my daughter try on the one shoe that was her size and it was definitely running a bit small. I also wasn't too impressed with the stiffness of the sole, though the shoe otherwise seemed nice enough. We of course returned them and I have to say that that was a very positive experience thanks to Amazon's great return policy/procedure. I was credited the refund within minutes of processing the return, which meant that I ordered a replacement on the same day these shoes arrived without having to foot the bill twice.I am always a little wary buying shoes or clothes online, for fear that I may have to return them if they don't fit - but even though we got a "lemon" it wasn't a terrible experience and going through the returns process was very easy.
