Tested these out immediately... warm and dry

Well I got these delivered today and immediately trekked out on an over 2 mile walk through the woods in about 1 foot of untouched snow with a few Quad tracks along the way. My feet stayed warm, dry and they remained comfortable the entire time. They feel nice and look nice too as well as having good traction and a comfortable sole padding. They are roomy and look very large when you un-box them. I am a wide size 13 and ordered in a 13. I always have trouble getting the width of footwear right. These have plenty of room width and length as well as up and around the ankle area. I was wearing two pairs of socks and might have been able to fit a third.

Great Buy

Have not had a chance to use and test it yet, tried it on 12 is my size I always wear 2 pair of socks and it was a good fit for a std size 12 shoe size with the allowance for the heavy wools socks and std street socks. Seems to be Good Quality. I have a High expectation , I am replacing some Sorels that were stolen in a home robbery , I have read their reviews , sounds like the company was sold and quality control has gone down hill, rotten rubber after being only 1 year old. I just goat a load of snow here at the house, 10" , it is day 3 and it is now raining and slush. been wearing the boots, they are Great!! well made , warm and keep you dry, VERY Good job Northside !!! Well made Good traction and gripmy prior boots were sorels , these are every bit as good as the older sorels.

... don't know if the mns 9 would have fit better, but the 10 is a bit big

I don't know if the mns 9 would have fit better, but the 10 is a bit big, and after the insulation packs down a bit I may be sloshing in them. I wear a mns 9.5, but they said order up. It used to be that the oriental sizes were way small, now it seems they have swung too far the other way. Swung way the other way or Feng Shui, it doesn't matter, just make them to the approximate US size. These things make my feet look huge, almost comical. Bozo's shoes weren't much smaller. So yeah, they will work with a couple pair of socks, but won't keep me from tripping over my own feet. These things are gunboats compared to my old pair, just missing the turrets. Other than that, great, nice construction, great quality for the price. Just don't fall for the "order up" deal if you are close to your size, they don't do half sizes. I got a deal on these, so I don't think they will take a return, that being said, I will wear them around the yard and I know I will never be wet or cold, just swimming in them. I haven't actually worn them yet, I tried one on, and although very comfy, I know they will pack down, and be like wearing my dad's boots(when I was 5 years old) but what can I do after I got them for so cheap and the delivery was botched so bad. They (amazon logistics) threw them into the yard out the window into the neighbors driveway, I only noticed because I was expecting them. Then they drove off and almost ran me over doing twice the speed limit down my road. Wrong address delivery, and a bad one (to boot). Anyway, they cut me a deal, and I really don't mind that they don't fit. I won't use them that much anyway, #1 because the weather here is usually not that bad, and if it is, I'm not in it very long anyway, unless I fall over my really big boots and freeze to death in the driveway. Which I haven't totally ruled out.

Good solid snow boot

Husband was skeptical because didn't think they looked manly enough but I talked him into them, as I have the female version for 3 winters now and they're the best snow boots I've ever had. Very durable, warm, and great grip in snow. Also waterproof. Now that he's tried them on and worn them, he says they look much better in person and he really likes them. Says they're very warm, comfortable -- feels like you bounce when you walk. Also, the tongue (which is a thick, real piece of leather) is sewn onto the sides so there is no way snow/water can get in even if you don't lace them up all the way. He wears a 12 and we bought a 12 and they fit great.

Extremely narrow toe box :(

I owned a pair of the original Northside "Balance Man" boots, almost identical to these, which were purchased over 10 years ago. They were fantastic, faithful boots for over a decade of regular use before they developed a hole in the outsole. I was pumped to find them here and excited for my new pair to arrive in time for winter only to find that the new design is essentially the same except for the toe box went from extra wide (it was very wide before, wider than any other shoes or boots I've ever worn, and I loved it) to extremely narrow. I have wide forefeet, but they are not ridiculous. I'm 6'4" and 175lb. I'm not a giant dude with big smushy hamburger feet. That being said I do need some extra room for my pinky toes. I knew as soon as I looked at these boots in real life that they weren't the same as before. Upon trying them on they absolutely smashed my toes together. Literally I could barely fit them on my feet. They are now extremely uncomfortable and there's no doubt that they aren't made the same as before. Another sign is that they also didn't used to have that raised reinforcement on the top of the toe box. Super disappointed as I used to rely very heavily on these boots. :( :( :( Epic fail

Seem well-made, but run large and are rather klunky

I was looking for some snow boots in this price range and had been eyeing these for a long time. Like many reviewers have stated, they do run large (not only in length but in width too). Overall they seem rather klunky and heavy. I decided to buy a pair of Kamik nation plus (similar in price) and do a side by side comparison - so I pulled out the digital scale. I wear size 12, and the Kamiks came in at 2 lbs, 1-5/8 oz. per boot. These Northsides came in at 3 lbs. 2-7/8 oz per boot. That is almost a full pound heavier per boot. One thing I really like about the Kamiks is they have a padded tongue which is very comfortable and adds to the overall warmth of the boot. It was worth a shot, but I'll be returning the Northsides.
