I recently purchased these boots/shoes and I'm very happy with my purchase. I have arthritis in my knees and peripheral neuropathy due to diabetes. Walking can sometimes be difficult. I thought I'd try these because they looked dressy and like they'd provide more support than the comfy Sketchers I've been wearing. Don't get me wrong...I love my Sketchers, but these chukkas provide additional support, while providing soft cushioning and (much to my surprise) are VERY light weight! I've been able to walk better and stand on my feet for longer periods of time. I'm thrilled with my purchase!
Truly a great buy! Probably the most comfortable, classy chukka boot I’ve ever worn, the only issue is the sizing. I normally wear a 10.5 but ordered a 10 because of previous reviews but the 10 was still at least a half size too big too!
My husband loves these shoe /boots. They are comfortable and soft inside. As stated being waterproof leather, time will tell. He only has them for the last 2 weeks. Great for every day and formal occasions .
I like that these shoes are really light weight and well made. They fit perfectly not to snug but not to lose (9.5W, I usually wear 10.5M if wide not available). The only con is if you gonna be on your feet for a while your gonna feel it. The gel sole can only do so much. I recommend putting an additional cushion in order prolong the standing. Even after breaking them in your feel it after a while.
My son said they are comfortable and fit well. Bonus is that they are waterproof but look like leather!
I wore these for about a year, so this is a long-term review. I wore them daily for my job as a flight instructor, getting in and out of small planes all day long, which is harder on shoes than you might think. (Most shoes wear out at the sole; if you're a flight instructor, they usually wear out on the top and in the toes through rubbing, scratching, etc.) They held up fairly well for me; I did not have any real problems with durability. They do wear out a little weird, and I'll get into why a little further down.First, understand that these are basically sneakers. They're "boots" in name only. They feel exactly like high top sneakers, and kind of look like them in person too. If you painted them white instead of black and put a flat sole on them, the similarity to sneakers would be more obvious - just try to imagine that. But the point is however they actually look, they feel like sneakers. The sole is rubber, the "leather" is totally fake (and not all that convincing) and there is cushioning everywhere. They are actually pretty comfortable! When I first got them, I was like "what the heck is this?!" but I kept them because they were comfortable. Definitely more comfortable than the "real" chukka boots I owned both before and after these. At the time, with my job, that was the most important thing. And I was kind of being forced to dress up for a job that shouldn't really require it, so these were ok for that purpose.I gotta go back to the look because it is important in any shoe. Chukka boots are usually kind of trendy, hipster-ish, and usually something you can get away with in a dress shoe setting if you don't want to wear actual dress shoes. These are not any of that. Because they're designed for both comfort and to be inexpensive, they look kind of frumpy and cheap and don't really work well with anything but wide pant legs. Your pants will get caught up on the highly padded tops of these. Most chukka boots will kind of be right up against your ankle at the top, so pants just fall right past them. These, again, are not like that. They're kind of annoying to wear with jeans as a result and don't really look "right" with anything, to be honest. They're not casual enough for shorts or wide legged jeans, not dressy enough for khakis or dress pants. And because the leather is fake, they wear out in kind of an ugly way. On mine, the finish wore off in the toes, exposing whatever's underneath - kind of a white support structure of some kind. Almost looks like fiberglass. Probably really just some kind of polyester fabric.I replaced mine with some boots from Steve Madden that are made with real leather and look a lot classier. I will say that they are not as comfortable, though, and I would not wear them as a flight instructor because of the potential for damage. If comfort and price are what you care about, then these Nunn Bush's are ok. If you're being forced to dress up for a job you don't want to dress up for, then these are a good choice. Just know what you're getting.
