GREAT for seniors......solid and safe footbed.
Bought these for my husband whose feet are heavily wrapped for lymphedema treatment after trying post surgery boot that was an epic fail. These shoes were purchased in a larger size to accomodate the foot wraps are very comfortable and have a solid and safe footbed. My husband wants to get another pair in more his actual size now he is healing from the lymphedema.

Incredibly comfortable shoes
When first worn they feel like the soles are 1" thick. In a few minutes though they feel terrific. I wear a size 11½ D shoe (non-orthopædic). I selected a size 12 ORTOREX shoe to review as my 11½ shoes were getting too tight. It didn't take long to forget that I was wearing an ORTOREX shoe. They are very comfortable and supportive. The size 12 was just slightly loose. I came to appreciate the little bit of looseness. As I continued to wear them I felt more & more comfortable. I wore them 5 hours straight the first time. There was no breaking them in. When I took them off my feet felt great, like I just had a foot massage. I am 73 years old and I have worn many types of shoes in my life. These are truely unique. I highly recommend them.

Good Concept, But the Straps Don't Hold
I have slightly wide feet, and I bought these ORTOREX sneakers to have as a comfortable extra pair of shoes, as I liked the overall design. While the materials seem solid, a major design flaw in the Velcro closure system makes them insecure and ultimately unwearable for me.What I Liked:Good Quality Materials: The material of the shoe itself seems solid and well made. The sole is decent, and the upper fabric is nice.Appealing Design (in theory): I do like the general look of the shoe and the light blue color. What I Didn't Like:Critically Flawed Velcro Closure: The biggest problem is the Velcro strap. The soft "loop" part of the fastener that the strap sticks to is only a very thin strip on the shoe. This means if your feet are on the narrower side of "wide" on any given day, there is nothing for the "hook" part of the strap to grab onto to get a snug fit.Shoes Won't Stay On: This flaw makes the shoe unusable. I literally walked right out of my shoes because the Velcro strap had nothing to hold onto and came completely undone with a normal step.Sloppy 'Fin' Appearance: Even when you can get the strap to connect, the large flaps don't lay down flat against the shoe. They stick out awkwardly like fins, which looks very messy and unfinished. Not for "Ordinary" Wide Feet: These are marketed for swollen feet, and they mean it. If you just have ordinary wide feet that don't need the maximum possible volume, these are not the right choice. The closure system is simply not versatile enough.Who Should Buy:Perhaps someone with severely and consistently swollen feet who needs the maximum possible volume in a shoe and will be using the entire length of the strap.Who Should Skip:Anyone with 'just' wide feet. The closure system is not designed for you and will likely not hold securely.People whose foot width might fluctuate, as there's very little room for adjustment on the tighter end.Anyone who wants a shoe that looks neat and secure when closed.Star Rating: 2 out of 5 StarsI'm giving this two stars because the base shoe and materials seem to be of good quality. However, the poorly designed closure system is a complete failure. A shoe that you can walk right out of is not a functional piece of footwear. This was a bit of a miss, and I'll be sticking to shoes specifically designed for standard wide feet from now on.

too wide for my needs
Didn't fit - way too wide, but I guess that's on me for not realizing how wide it would be.

Nice shoes for swollen feet.
I'm not diabetic and I don't have what is usually considered to be swollen feet. A couple of years ago I tore a tendon in my right foot. That foot is slightly deformed and mishapen, especially on the sole beneith the big toe. These shoes, being designed for swollen feet, are very roomy, which is helpful for my injured foot. The shoes are well made, sturdy, and have a thick, well cushioned sole. They close with a large velcro strap which makes putting them on and securing them a breeze. Because of the velcro strap the fit is adjustable. They are light and the soles are non-sliip so they are very stable to walk in. For theraputic shoes they even look ok, not clunky or boxy, and they are available in a variety of colors and patterns. I wear a size 10 regular shoe so that's what I ordered. They are roomy, which is the idea. If you want a snugger fit you might consider ordering a size smaller than your regular size. Bottom line: Quality shoes that feel great on my injured foot.
