Great sandal for the money- not a true "hiking sandal" though.
These are great. I wasn't sure about which size to get- I am a 9, typically, but depending on shoe, it can differ. Sometimes I go 9.5, but that's either in running shoes or some dress shoes. The 8.5/9 fit me perfectly.As far as adjustability, the strap behind the heel is what is adjustable. It connects to the straps that cross over the top of the foot, on either side. You can slide the heel strap up or down (or forward or back, depending on how you look at it), and it makes for a more snug or loose fit. My guess about people saying the straps get loose over time, *may* have something to do with this feature being a little more mobile after some wear. But, it could also be that the braids tighten up, making the straps be just a tiny bit longer than at purchase. Either way, for now they are great and I think for the price point (these aren't Chacos, after all) the quality is good and even if they stretch a bit, I would be glad I bought them.They are incredibly light, and the support is good- it's firm, without being stiff in the sole, or hard on the bottom of the feet. It's also not annoyingly squishy, which can feel kinda gross to my feet, especially if the shoe gets wet. In fact, I suppose they're so comfortable that the only way I think about my feet is to stop to consider how good they are feeling from time to time.The bottom of the soles are not what I could consider "hiking" sandals. They have texture for sure, but it is more like a light but dense foam/ (plastic?) I will feel ok wearing these in drier, slightly rough terrain, but I personally would not feel comfortable relying on them on wet or potentially slippery hikes.. however I've seen some reviews here that say they use them for that and with no issues. I suppose if they prove themselves trustworthy, then after some time I might give them a go at wetter conditions.They are quiet shoes, with the exception of the light sound of my heel lifting off of the back of the sole. I don't know that that is avoidable, but the shoes themselves don't make a lot of noise on the ground- indoor or outdoor.Overall, I would definitely recommend them. I will be using them for travel - to have a utilitarian sandal that can also be dressed up. Then just around town in my regular life when I return. If anything significant comes up after using them for sometime, I will edit this post.

I actually love these sandals! I have a bad back and have a difficult time with shoes. It’s nice to have something comfortable that still looks stylish! The color goes with everything, and they are very simple to put on and off. Great for daily wear, walks and great vacation shoes!

Comfortable and versatile
Update for July 2024I took these shoes down to Charleston, SC area in July.I specifically brought them for traversing one of the wild and inhabited islands. I got these puppies in some deep and muddy low tide coastline shark tooth hunting. They were great. Only downside is the bottom of the shoe has a little too smooth traction for mud. It can hit that mud with the right amount of slick, you’ll be on the ground in a millisecond. I didn’t fall but had a few whoa there moments. Otherwise, they were still phenomenal drying quickly, staying on my feet when I got a little stuck in the mud, and not hurting my feet. I did have to give them a good wash but again super easy.. Now I had to wash I was heading to Morocco and wanted a sandal that I could have as a good walking shoe for versatile weather and terrain. This shoe exceeded my expectations. They were lightweight yet supportive on the sole. I wore them in over a two week span in different landscapes and varying elevation from cobble city streets to dirt paths to the Sahara dessert. I wore them in a light rain shower as walking up to the Spanish mosque in Chefchaouen. One-that path has some good elevation and the sandals were extremely comfortable and I felt sturdy. Second, the shoes dried up pretty quickly after being damp. I did not use them to wade in a river or submerge in water but I got a glimpse of their comfort and quick dry with the rain. They were comfortable for long periods of time and in the heat (80-90 was about the warmest on the trip for early spring). I had them on for 14 hours walking around Fes Medina and sightseeing (leisurely to a city walk pace) I was nervous about potential blisters but the straps didn’t rub against my skin. You also can adjust the fit as needed which was a nice feature. Because I knew they would dry fast, I did wipe them down or rinse them after a day out as the sole picked up dirt in the little crevices of the shoe. So they can get dirty appearance if you don’t clean them off but super easy to wipe off and they do dry pretty quickly. I highlighted a lot about their functionality but they are super cute. The braided strap gives a fashionable appeal as I did wear them on occasion as a dressier sandal for an outfit to dinner. A versatility bonus since I only brought 3 shoes on my trip and allowed me to maximize the different needs and uses. A good shoe for the traveler that wants functionality, versatility, comfort, and a little fashion.

Amazing sandals right out the box , extremely comfortable as I was off and “running” (walking and trekking) through the streets of Portugal. I probably walked 50 miles in these on slippery tile , road and sand and they’ve held up decently. Love that they can be used as a flip flop too. My feet are finicky - wide and I’ve got a bunion but had absolutely no issues with the fit . The straps are very forgiving and slightly stretchy and the foot bed is very soft and comfortable after about 5 miles a day of walking . I wouldn’t use these for hiking - the tread isn’t deep enough . Also , I noticed a decent amount of wear after about 50 miles or so. Also on the slippery tiled roads of Portugal, I found myself slipping every so often. I would purchase again for casual day trips and I’m not regretful at all for bringing them on my vacation. They suited their need with some slight issues . Buy them! They’re a great value , very cute and stylish and most of all, comfortable !
