My husband loves how comfortable, walking support and easy to put on and take off.
I am a shoe fanatic. I wanted a walking shoe that was not an athletic looking shoe. I wanted the Velcro strap. I wanted the price. What did I get? A real wonderful shoe. Looks like a dress shoe. Feels like a $150 pair of luxury shoes. Exact fit for a 13/d. Used them on the treadmill and they helped my posture and gait. Short walk outside but they feel wonderful. I can strongly recommend these shoes for comfort and utility (even if the cost twice the price). If you travel this is the shoe for you. Easy on and off, appearance and comfort. I am a 76 year old retired professor even though It sounds like I work for the Propet folks. LOL Finally, I will be buying a pair for dress up.
Very comfortable!I've had Propet shoes in the past, and the quality of the shoes has been pretty variable.(a pair of Galway Walkers is my favorite shoe)These are well made, very comfortable. They're comparable in comfort and construction to my Propet Galway Walkers. The footbed and insole is soft and supportive. They feel good when you put them on, stand in them, etc.I bought these to wear at work instead of the name brand sneakers I've been wearing, (and are priced too high right now). One note, the sole is a somewhat 'hard' plastic material with some rubber content. When new they may be a little slippery on smooth floors, not dangerous, in my opinion. They do get more traction with some wear.I snatched up two pairs in different colors at the price I paid, and they are a good buy.I save my Galway Walkers for long plane trips, and dealing with airport lines, jaunts across terminals, and also is the default shoe I use when wandering on foot in distant cities. The scandia is equally comfortable, and only slightly more trouble to slip on/off in airport security lines, or on the plane.I ordered both pairs in the grained finish.
My brother in law was recently diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. His shoe size also went from a 10M to an 11W. We tried many different shoes to get the right fit for him. THESE WON! They fit him perfectly, are supportive and he LOVES walking in them. I already got him a brown pair too! Having just one thick strap made all the difference. It closes securely and stays put. We tried thinner double straps and they kept coming undone. I'm thrilled that this fit him so well and that he loves them. Because he has Parkinson's, he has a tendency to walk with his body slightly forward. I read some of the reviews - some said the shoes cause this forward motion. I was afraid that might happen to him. It doesn't! He doesn't feel pushed forward with these at all. Now he wants "tennis shoes." I found the Propet Travel Fit Comfort Walking Mens Athletic Shoes and ordered them in blue and in gray. They haven't arrived yet but I expect them to have the same wonderful fit. The most important thing is they have the one wide band across the foot. Some of Propet's shoes, including this pair, are Medicare approved, A5500 coded. This means under certain circumstances Medicare will reimburse you for some or all of the purchase price. Just google "Medicare approved, A5500 coded" to find out more information. Propet Men's M5015 Scandia Strap Slip-On . I wish these came in WHITE!
This Propel Scandia looks good, very light weight, fits well enough. I have wide feet, and this shoe is wide enough. The velcro closure is also just fine.I removed the liner, and installed my custom orthotic. The fit is a bit tight, especially with medium thick socks. However, the sole of the shoe is cheap plastic. I live in Minnesota, and I want all my shoes, even my "indoor shoes" to work while walking to work or to a parking lot, if we have a little snow or ice. The sole of this shoe is slippery plastic.I have bought cheaper shoes with real rubber soles. This shoe is OK, but if you live in a place which has winter, look elsewhere.
Good shoe, I wear a size 9. Shoe is a little loose with thin socks, ok with thicker socks. I bought these because I had surgery on my left hand and can’t tie laces. They look nice, go on easy and the Velcro straps work great. Seem to be of descent quality. Thick sole.Update: after a month, I like these shoes so much I ordered a brown pair.
Now I don't know how the asian leather treatment will be. Another model scuffs super easily. May need to polish often.BUT the comfort on these shoes! I have a "sixth toe" and have to have the 3x width. Toss the included insole, put a quality orthotic soft insole and then perfect fit. And the single strap works perfectly. Another thing that's really great is the tongue; it doesn't crab to the side when you put your foot in. I would have given it only 4 stars because the tread is a worry, not a hiking shoe I know, but it seems not to be as safe on slippery surfaces. Be careful! Harder to feel the gas/brake pedal than a lesser shoe.Later addendum: Continue to be impressed with these. They are a very solid shoe, makes me think of a patrolman's shoe. They are a little more roomy than my size so almost like a slipon yet giving solid support. Best shoe I've ever had. Sad that America can't produce them as cheaply, but that's what we yankees did to UK and EU. What comes around....
