Good boots with a tight toe box
I served for ten years in the Marines and, to say the least, I am hard to please when it comes to footwear and particularly so with boots. Living in Minnesota and being an avid outdoorsman, my demands for footwear require that they check just about every box for quality and comfort. I was skeptical at first, but have been pleasantly surprised by these boots thus far.I have been wearing these for a couple of weeks. They will be in a rotation with one pair of Merrill and one Keens so I am able to compare them to a better known company. The first thing that struck me was that the inserts are absolute garbage. They got tossed immediately. I don't think I even got the second boot on my foot before making that decision. In general, I don't expect much from the stock insert and usually end up replacing them anyway, but these were particularly bad. Putting in a pair of Sole inserts made a huge difference. While they do represent a significant chunk of the purchase price, they really are well worth the expense. (I learned that in the military too...)After wearing the boot for a bit, I was happy that they weren't going to need a long breaking in period. Every boot does to some degree, but these were fairly comfortable right off. The construction is lightweight, though that means they aren't even remotely repairable. (A real pity as cobblers are getting harder and harder to find!) I really do prefer boots that can be resoled and rebuilt - but they cost at least 5x more, so that is not an unreasonable trade off here. The fit of the boot was reasonable for me. I wear a size 12 and these weren't too short. That said, the toe box is pretty tight and that is the one significant issue I have with them. If your toes cannot spread out, it may lead to significant problems with your feet in the long term. I would not recommend these to anyone who will regularly wear them as their only pair of boots.I did have a chance to test these out in both an unseasonably warm day with lots of slush, and during a blizzard with >12" of snow. There was no issue with my feet getting wet or cold. The boots aren't insulated for really cold weather, but casual wear in anything above 15° should be ok. (Again, from MN so my measuring stick might be a little different...)I see no glaring flaws in the construction and expect that these will last at least as long as the other two pairs that I mentioned. I should mention that at first, yes, they did have some left over odor from being manufactured. However, that's probably because they were shipped right after they were made. Pretty much every shoe has an odor and it wears off quickly. (Less than a week.) It's no longer a problem.Bottom line: From what I have seen so far, these appear to be a quality pair of casual boots. I'm certainly never going to wear them into the backcountry, but for short hikes and everyday wear I think they will perform just fine and represent a fair value at the current price. If you have narrow feet or only plan to wear these occasionally, I think they will serve you well.

Sturdy shoes, waterproof, long lasting
These are a bit stiff and have to be broken in, for sure, but they're *wonderful* for hiking. My son has loved them! They have super sturdy soles, durable and waterproof. He's not easy on them- he's a 10 year old boy- but they've held up! No rubbing that he's complained of.

Beautiful boots
As someone who lives in SoCal, I don't usually wear boots. But there comes the occasional trip to the mountains nearby or visiting family in Colorado where boots are a necessity. And I gotta say, this is the first pair of boots I've owned that made me wish I lived in a boots-heavy area. These boots are stylish, comfy, and the perfect weight. They fit snuggly, but don't feel tight. You'll look crazy cool wearing these and they're a great value given the price.Highly recommend.

Good Boots, Order One Size Up
Anyone who is looking for Hiking Boots that won't break the bank, these will do. The quality is en par with others in this price range. Nothing innovative, just a solid pair of boots. I found them to be very stiff in the beginning. That being said they are the heavy type, almost like work boots. So don't compare them to the more flexible trekking boots. As other reviewer mentioned: The front of the shoe feels rather tight. I recommend ordering a size up to make it fit comfortably with thicker socks. Other than that, there is nothing really wrong with these boots. Four stars from me. I am taking one star off for the narrow front, compared to other similar boots I own.

Good boot but too small in toe box for me
These are well made and waterproof boots that should serve narrow footed users well. but my feet are wide and the toe box on the left foot began to impinge on my big toe after several hours of wearing making them unbearable for my needs.

Sturdy boots that fit my needs
I wear boots almost everyday in both work and recreational settings and I have been happy with these Rockmark boots over the last two months.I usually wear steel toed boots in dangerous and abusive environments and have been trying to transition away to a lighter more comfortable boot. These boots fit well into my lifestyle as they provide a good base of support for my feet and ankles as well as being comfortable enough to wear all day. The boots are stable and keep me from rolling my ankles and they give me confidence on slippery surfaces. They provide great traction on everything from smooth tile to dirt and loose gravel. As with all boots, they are warmer than shoes, but they are much cooler than leather boots. I have not fully submerged the boots, but have been in heavy rain storms and puddles and they appear to live up to the waterproof rating. The outer soles and materials are holding up well to my abusive lifestyle with no excessive wear. The boots are a bit stiff when new and require a little time to fully break in (I have never had a boot that didn't require some break in time). To be fair, I have worn 3/4 orthotics in my boots for many years and I wear them with these boots so it is difficult for me to fully judge the comfort level of just the insoles. I wear a size 10 1/2 in shoes and an 11 in boots and I prefer a wider fit, but I have NOT had the issue of a tight toe box as others have noted. In summary, the boots are stylish and more importantly they have performed very well and the purchase price is in line with many boosts I have purchased in the past. I am happy with my choice and would choose them again.
