Recommended, ****1/2 -- great value, sturdy, able to be resoled
I am usually pleased with RothCo products. I have shirts made by them that are still great 20+ years later. Occasionally there is a badly sewn or overpriced piece, but on the whole their items are a good value for the money. These boots seem very sturdy - again, especially for the cost (and I care not where an item is made, as long as the quality and price are balanced) - and the leather is breaking in nicely. I have wide feet w/a high instep and these fit comfortably. I would prefer longer laces to wrap around before tying but that is no problem. However, if I could take half a star away from the rating, it would be for the insole. The boot's inside is quite hard and flat (not unusual for a military type footwear) but the insole is a joke: it is two threadbare wide weave pieces barely quilted together, with MADE IN CHINA stamped on it. Why bother? Invest in a good cushioned and/or supportive insole and you are good to go.

You get what you pay for…
*A couple things of note in my option that play into this first. I am about 275lbs. I walk between 7-10 miles a day at least 4 days a week on 12hr shifts. I am hard on boots, however I do take care of my boots with regular cleaning, polishing, and oiling.*These are the worst pair of boots I’ve ever owned. They look like a black version of standard issue but the quality is nothing like I had in the Army. (Yes I understand it’s a different brand.) The insoles are really thin and when I changed them out for Redwing ones, there’s not enough room left in the boot and feels like you’re wearing a size too small. The first use of force I had in them tore up the toes on both boots. Tried to fix that with Tufftoe but it started peeling off (which may not be the boots fault there, I’m not sure). The souls on both boots (toe and heal) had to be glued back together a few times. Just overall a poor quality, uncomfortable, weak boot. I finally gave up after only a couple months and got belville boots. They are double the price but are way better so far.

Rothco Sierra sole tactical boot size 10 wide
These boots run large. I normally wear a men's 10.5 or 11 wide boot depending on brand sizing. Plenty of room in the size 10 wide to wear a thick sock if desirable. I bought these boots mostly to wear as a motorcycle boot. Only time will tell as far as durability goes. The boots are lightweight and construction appears durable. I took a picture of the boot next to my Redwing size 11 wide boot for comparison.

The Price is right, quality is dubious
When these arrived they of course looked new and good. I tried them on and they are the right size, I am going to put inserts in these so the extra size I felt was perfect.I went to lace these up and one of the metal riveted lace loops wasn't even riveted on. It just slid off the boot.I bought a rivet kit for $10 or $15 to attach it myself, at least it did show up with the boot, but I haven't even gone running or hiking in these yet and I really hope everything else is better put together than the unattached lace loop....
