I bought these as an experiment. I usually wear temperate, gortex-lined, boots and I wanted to see how these inexpensive, Chinese-made boots handled field conditions in a hot weather/subtropical environment. I bought and wore them for about two months prior to going to Ft Johnson, LA for JRTC in 2024. Compared to most boots I've worn in my 20+ years, they were extremely hard to break into. The insoles were super thin with no support (get better insoles if you buy them) and, for my feet, were an exact fit, but with little wiggle room. One commenter said to go a half size up from your regular boot size and I can see that as being a good idea if like wiggle room or wear thinker socks. As for how they handled the field, they did better than I expected. They were light and breathable compared to my usual boots (USA-made Danners), but were experiencing wear and tear at a fast rate, especially on the rubber soles. They did last through JRTC and were worn for the next few months until I changed them out for my Danners and placed them in my basement. I think I'll use them for my back-up, summer, and trash boots going forward, but I don't expect them to last past this year.As for them being worth buying, I'd say that these are not on par with your typical USA-made boot. You get what you pay: cheap, foreign-made, flimsy, and uncomfortable footwear. However, they might be worth it if you are looking for a boot to last for a short period of time and you expect to trash out, or you are going to separate/retire in a year and don't want to spend $150+ on quality boots, or use them as your locker/office back-up pair when you forget your regular pair at home.
Got these as "disposable lawn care boots" for personal/home use and I've ended up wearing them to the store, mothers, other store, supply house, at home and also while doing my own lawn care. I've got that stupid outside-the-ankle tendon ligament injury and I trip it up ten times less often wearing these as I did with other shoes/boots (including my low-top RedWing $200 work shoes!) and am quite pleased that they also take to sealing oil and saddle soap as well. These have been wet-dry cycled probably 20 times by me in morning dew and rain and some puddles and are still holding up well with care, just have some character now.The speed-laces seem flimsy but they aren't: tug the strings tight halfway up then snatch em tight from the top and you're good. Also the lace length is perfect for tying little knots in the ends and wearing them loose, I get about 1 inch of dangle of the lace between the knot and the top of the boot.Exceptionally fulfilled by these boots though they're very flat-footed.
These boots are about half a size to a full size too small. I wear 12's, I ordered 12's. Thought maybe I need to break them in. They fit like 11's... Next time I think I'll ordered 13's. Other than that, they're a comfortable boot. And the speed lace's work as designed.
They don't have ankle support. I also had to change the insole because they made my feet hurt.
