I got these for an overseas trip where I knew the weather would be damp, cool, and we would be doing a lot of walking. They were perfect. First, they are water repellant and did well in the drizzle and wet grassy areas. Secondly, they are lightweight—felt like tennis shoes! Thirdly, with wool socks, they were quite warm (in a good way), and with lighter weight socks they were just right on the rarer warmer days.

Favorite winter boots

These are light, water resistant, and warm but flexible and easy to wear (not like rigid hiking boots). They work well in snow and ice, not slippery. I have two pair in different colors and wear them all winter. Two seasons so far, still holding up very well. I love Ryka fit, but check your measurements on the size chart--don't undersize these. They are best not too tight.
