seem very good, but not wide enough for me
so far just trying them out they are very comfortable and light and waterproof and good traction except on wet concrete, have to be careful there. I wish shoe manufacturers would take completely into account the needs of non-average sizes. My feet are D width, and altho purchasers suggested these shoes were wide, without knowing exactly how wide they are it's a gamble. I would love if shoes had actual widths assigned to them, even if it's general, like "C-D" or "D-E" so I don't have something shipped across the world to find out it may have been wide for someone but not for me. I hope this shoe will stretch out, I cannot return. But otherwise they are visually a bit daunting (someone commented "astronaut shoes" because I do not wear these in the wilderness but more in the midst of daily life in a bit of a rough terrain so they are quite over the top in appearance but I knew that. I am looking for something to hold my feet firmly and not slip on various terrains and these are good for that. These are more of a B-C width I would say, they pinch my little toes, especially on the right foot. Lacing is easeful, easy to slip in and out of--all good except width. But they do hold foot in place. Color is nice, but could do without all the jazzy writing "CROSS HIKE", don't need to advertize how awesome my shoes are. I am usually an 8.5 so I ordered that but if I wanted to wear thick socks would need a 9, length just fits me. But otherwise thank you, Salomon.

Great shoe for the outdoors.
If your familiar with Solomon’s product line the Cross Hike fits like a high top version of the Speedcross. Pros are I use these for going to the range so there pretty smooth for standing around all day. These also have pretty aggressive lugs so they make short work of moving around on uneven surfaces. Light weight feel and no break in makes them far more comfortable than wearing boots. Waterproof is a nice touch for when the range is still drying out and the quick lace system is welcomed. Cons are they not well suited for wearing indoors like walking around the mall or immovable surface as you will certainly wear out the deep grips/lugs on the sole pretty quickly. The lugs are also pretty tall so I feel like I’m walking on high heels but just goes to the design of the shoe. The waterproof gore Tex also doesn’t breathe so not crazy about wearing this in hot weather. The fabric tear is real, hopefully will fix this in the next version. Not bad for a first attempt, looking for improvements next year. I only give out five stars if I would buy the product again, and the answer is yes, I would buy them again.

Man! Ok so I am sooooooo happy these are the perfect fit and once I put them on sooooooo COMFORTABLE! They feel like you are walking on a orthopedic bed lol. I also was wearing the socks I usually wear with my army boots so this made my review even better. I will be doing a lot of training in these, so the second review will come this weekend. I will tell you how my feet and knees will effected/feel by first walking in them for the "break in process" (which really not needed, because these are not leather boots, but you still need to feel how you foot and knees feel after a long walk. It doesnt matter how comfy they feel you feet and knees will give you the results in the long run) and then when I have a heavy load/ backpack with weight in it. My family and I were up in parts of the Appalachian Trail and had to cross a little waterfall we definitely had to walk through and feet were dry as a whistle and the GRIP! IS on point of not slipping both on dry/wet areas of the trail. Bottom line theses boots are SUPER light, Comfortable, and worth every penny.

Absolutely the best hiking shoe ever
I had been looking for replacements for my Merrell hiking shoes for 2 years. I tried countless shoes in stores and returned many to Amazon. None fit right. These are better than any I ever bought before. Fit perfectly to size 7 medium. Arch support is perfect, not too much, or little. Waterproof, lightweight, very lightweight, supportive, the best gripping soles I ever had, breathable, and the Smart Laces are almost my favorite part. I can stop for a second to tighten or loosen when i first start walking by bending over, just pulling the looping lace and stick the loop behind the tongue in 2 seconds. NO kneeling to retie. Seems like i can walk safely in anything but ice. I didn't wear them in the extreme cold and snow here. They are seamless so no water leaks, not that i want to mess up my pretty shoes by walking in deep puddles.And they are so cute and cool. I have people stop and ask me about them. I have always bought Merrells until maybe 2 years ago. Things change. I hope these don't. I could walk in them all day. Just love them, can't wait to put them on.2 years later and they are still the best shoes I have ever worn. Wish I could find the same exact shoes again, even though these are still barely worn.
