Fabulous! What I hoped for when I sent the Dansko Pro back.

I want to thank the individual who said to try both the Sanita Pro and the Dansko Pro as the Sanita was better product for less cost. Exactly right. The Dansko Pro Oiled I ordered in the 9.5-10 and I wore them around inside the house for one entire day. The left shoe hit at the top of my foot directly above the arch and it hurt so bad every time I took a step it felt as if it would be bruised at the end of the day. Yes, I have long thin, bony feet with fairly good to high arch. But should a quality shoe in the size you normally wear cause that type of pain? No. The shoe was also far too loose overall yet the length was correct. What do you do in this case? Sent them back. Re-read through a ton of reviews and found one suggesting try the Sanita Pro shoe as a comparison to the Dansko. Well, let me say there is NO comparison. The shoe is softer overall, inside and out. The insole is wonderful, the outsole is exactly identical to the Dansko but NO squeaky noise or clop clop clunking noise when I walk. I put these Sanita Pro shoes on right out of the box this am and rushed out to a doctor appointment. I then had to stop at a downtown location and walk 4-5 blocks to get to where I was going. No issue. This was over a hill and some large gravel lot parking areas. A bit tricky since i have not owned this type of clog before but didn't trip or collapse the ankle. I did do this in the Dansko Pro at my own home stepping off the porch onto rock stepping stone pathway. Argh. Right there I was sure the Dansko was going back. Back to the Sanita Pro review. I then had to drive to another location and walk another 4-5 blocks to get my hair cut. No issues. NONE. No soreness, no rubbing, nothing. I am home now and so pleased with these shoes I feel like drinking a glass of wine to celebrate! BUY THEM instead of Dansko. These are better quality, nicer feel on the foot and they are less costly. I ordered the 41 as per the other reviews instead of my normal 40. They fit me like a glove with a pair of soft fuzzy socks. I will most definitely be buying more of this brand. The reason I tried this style was a bad nerve and joint pain in the left foot big toe. There is no way to explain other than the left foot/toe feels the same as the right, which is to say I don't feel it at all. That hasn't happened in my shoes for about 3-6 months. I am getting rid of all the shoes I normally wear except my Keens and my Altra running shoes. Wonderful shoe!!

poor quality, inconsistent fit

I tried two different pairs and had to return both of them - no two of the four shoes fit the same, and all had some kind of irritating flaw inside - rough edges of some kind somewhere. Disappointing. I preferred the look of some of the Sanitas to Dansko, but i guess it's back to Dansko for me if this is the quality situation with Sanita now. Will also say that, in checking with a local comfort shoe store, i learned that they no longer deal with Sanita at all because of how impossibly hard they were to deal with for returns etc. Had been trying to resole - not possible :( - or replace my old, old Danskos that fit perfectly (until the sole disintegrated - apparently a known issue with a batch many years ago. I'd found those at Value Village for $15 and wore the heck out of them, so i can't really complain, but they were so perfect...) The shoe store owner glanced at the bottom and told me from the model number that they had been made by Sanita at that time, which was why i gave those a try on Amazon. Anyway, my foray into trying Sanitas, at least online, is ended. Maybe there's an unflawed pair somewhere in a store, but two tries at shipping back and forth is enough for me.

Great shoes for certain occupations

This is my fourth pair of Sanita clogs and I wear them to work as a health care professional. These are useful for occupations where you are on your feet, standing and taking short walks down hallways. They would not be comfortable for long distance walking or travel. On the plus side, they last a long time, maintaining arch support. I have owned my first pair for about eight years, and they are still solid but just a bit scuffed and worn on the top edge. The sole of the shoe is hard (perhaps related to the original wooden Dutch clogs) but they remain comfortable all day because of the undying arch support. Perhaps it would be an improvement if Sanita would add a thin but firm layer of cushioning as in option for a few styles. I have added my own layer of insole beneath the heel only. A full insole would not fit. I am sixty years old now and need this cushioning under the heel, but I still swear by these clogs and I never think about my feet when I am wearing them. There is adequate room in the toe box, so even if you are a C width, the medium is still probably okay for you. As for sizing, I wear a 38 in Birkenstock but require a 39 in Sanitas. They are one size smaller than expected, as many reviewers have noted. If you wear a 7-1/2 or an 8, get the 39 (8 1/2 to 9 according this sizing chart) If you are an 8-1/2, you will need to order the 40 or 9-1/2 to 10. There should be one pinky finger (at least) of distance between your heel and the back of the clog. The back of the clog is not meant to fit like a shoe--it is clog. It should not feel tight across the instep, but should not be loose and sloppy either. After a while, the area over the instep will ease a little and feel even more comfortable. Your toes should move freely inside and not press against the inside wall. Basically, the area across the instep is what keeps the clog on. The rest of your foot is loose and free. The rocker sole and arch support are what propel you forward. I can wear these for extended shifts--hours and hours at a time and never feel the need to remove my shoes to stretch my toes. After my first pair, I quit wearing my other shoes to work.
