Excellent sneakers!

Threat sneakers that feel comfortable have good arch support and have good grip to not fall or slip as easily. We have loose rock and this prevents me from slipping. I had surgery on my back and good foot support helps the hips and back. They have held up nicely but don’t yank the tongue too much as it’s not tacked by very much and could come loose. The have excellent soles that you can’t sneak around cause you can hear when you walk. Small price to pay and I make jokes like I’m SpongeBob with his squeaky boots. This is my third pair.

Spongy and Cushioned!!!

I have always worn Sauconys for trail runs/races. I was an exclusive Peregrine runner but after knee surgery and starting slowly back running I found the Peregrines were a little too flat and firm causing my ball of my foot to hurt and go numb. I still LOVE my Peregrines but felt I needed a little more cushion for my feet and for longer runs especially. These did NOT disappoint!!!! So spongy and cushioned that I felt like I could just bounce and glide around my house. Little pillows of heaven- although not too cushioned that I couldn't feel the ground well under my feet. No weird or painful rubbing, the heel cupped nicely and the lace system worked will for me. As with all the other Saucony the uppers will wear out relatively quick with major wear but for the price point I don't complain. I love my Saucony shoes.I wish Saucony would stop with the neutral boring earth tone colors and bring back the flash and fun. These were bright orange and fun but there wasn't really much to choose from. The Ultra 2 colors are so incredibly hideous and boring that I can't bring myself to buy until they come out with something more colorful than mud.

prefer peregrine

I have been a saucony peregrine fan for several years, going through 2-3 pairs a year, hiking 20-30 miles a week. When I compared the features of this shoe to peregrine and a couple others, I was sold. The extra cushioning sounded wonderful. On my first trip out (4 miles) I felt foot fatigue in the first mile. By the second mile, I was developing a bad blister on one heel. I've since made some adjustments with the laces and have tried to stretch out the heel cup to prevent future rubbing/blisters. I added superfeet from another pair of shoes and that has helped with my feet throbbing and aching. I was very hopeful I'd love these, but now I'm just anxious to get another pair of peregrines. Oh, I did size up 1/2 size as I do with the peregrines.

Fits small in toe area

I love the Saucony Peregrine and Saucony road shoes, so I wanted to love these! I'm normally a 9.5 or 10 women's (41.5 - 42 Euro) and ordered these in a 10. Same size as my Saucony Peregrine. They felt fine walking around my house, but when I went on the trails they rubbed my big toe. It might be the way the toe protector is angled. I didn't try a half size larger but am concerned it might be too roomy for my narrow foot. If they had a larger toe box, they'd be perfect. As is, they don't work for me. The search continues!

Get these…

These are great shoes. For me they hit the sweet spot between protection, cushioning and fit. I typically prefer Altras for the wider toe box although the roominess is not the same it feels less sloppy and more supported. These seem to also be designed to hug the midsole which feels nice. The entire shoe feels like a top quality shoe. There’s a slot at the top of the tongue that I think is used to tuck the laces which is a nice feature. For me they are true to size. Don’t feel like I need to size up to account for swelling sweaty feet. Traction on rocky and wet or dry and rooty has been good and feels stable. Love the bright blue color, it sands out and I’ve already gotten compliments on trail. Will use for distances of 50K or more.
