The SCARPA Men's Origin Rock Climbing Shoes are designed for climbers who prioritize comfort without sacrificing performance. Whether you're heading to the gym or tackling outdoor sport climbs, these shoes offer a unique blend of features that cater to both beginners and seasoned climbers alike.

Features

  • EU Size: 45 – US Size: 11-11.5 Men, known to run small; opting for your street shoe size or larger is advised.
  • Flat-lasted design: Prioritizes comfort while delivering sufficient grip to foster climbing skill development.
  • Sizing advice: Most users recommend choosing a size similar to your street shoes, as the leather upper stretches with wear.
  • Men’s fit: Features a wide last and high volume design, accommodating most men's foot shapes comfortably.
  • Pressure absorbing heel system: Distributes heel tension and minimizes pressure on the Achilles tendon, providing forward pressure for better performance.

Pros

  • Excellent comfort, making them suitable for extended wear during climbing sessions.
  • Solid grip enhances confidence on various surfaces, whether indoors or outdoors.
  • Durable materials ensure the shoes withstand regular use.
  • Wide fit accommodates different foot shapes, which is often hard to find in climbing shoes.

Cons

  • Some users may find the sizing inconsistent, particularly if they are accustomed to standard shoe sizes.
  • The shoes may require a break-in period before achieving optimal comfort.
  • Not the best option for those seeking an aggressive fit for advanced climbing techniques.

Great fit, new in box with tags

Tried a bunch of different brands and these fit the best, the half size was exactly what I needed. Feels well built unlike others that are $10-$20 cheaper. Seems like it’s worth the few extra bucks to get something decent.

solid shoe to get new climbers through the beginner stage. limited passed that

bought these as my first pair of entry level shoes that were my own and not rentals. if you are a new climber looking for some decent shoes that wont break the bank, then these are great! WAY better than rentals, but getting past v6/7 & 5.11a/b I'd say the Origin's start to show their limitations. they are GREAT shoes for someone looking for their first pair of climbing shoes but ive been climbing 3x a week in them for like 5 or 6 months and i already upgraded and bought some more aggresive shoes (Instinct VSRs). there is a crimpy outdoorsy problem im projecting currently in my local gym that has really tiny awful feet & unfortunately these shoes just cant edge on them like I want them to. the origins have a very flat neutral shape and the edges arent very defined so they just cant really dig into these tiny footholds (for my skill level, at least. im sure a better climber can edge these footholds in street shoes, but i cant lol)all in all id say considering the price the origins are AWESOME if you are new to climbing and are just looking to get your first pair of shoes. they are like... 1000x better than rentals, trust me, but if you are shopping for anything past your first pair of shoes, arent on a strict budget, or if you climb harder than v6/7: I wouldnt recommend them. go for something more aggressive.

Runs small

I love these shoes! Perfect for beginners. The only thing is that they run about a half size small. I wear men’s 9 and I got a 9.5 and they were perfect. Keep in mind they’re supposed to be fitted and tighter to allow for better toe grip.

Good for Comfort

As a beginner, I enjoy the flat style of climbing shoe since it allows my feet to not be "stressed" too much. The rubber is also very grippy; this is very noticeable when you smear on the wall. If you're a beginner or a climber who likes longer big wall climbs I recommend these pair of shoes. Also, I don't see a need to pick a shoe size higher than your current size. I'm a 9.5 and with the 9.5 climbing shoes and I feel alright.

Beginner shoe.

I have only had these shoes for a few days so they are still breaking in. I'm only a beginner but I've been told any new shoes will need to be broken in. If you feel you don't need to chances are the size is too big. Rock climbing shoes are made with material that will stretch over use. On the other hand it should be crippling to use them. This shoe I found to be perfect for a person like me. It's in the lower cost range and is built to take the wear associated with someone new to climbing. The Velcro straps secure in opposing direction for a secure fit. The Velcro shapes also aids taking on and off the shoe. Personally I didn't like the idea of shoe lace because it takes longer and they can come undone mid climb. The sole is a solid piece of scarpa's rubber and it holds great to the wall.

Great shoe. I use this for indoor bouldering only

Great shoe. I use this for indoor bouldering only. I wish there was a size between 11 and 11.5. With street shoes I wear 11.5 (or in slip on styles that only come in whole sizes I wear an 11 comfortably). I bought these in an 11 (44.5 EU) and they are pretty tight even without socks. Once I am climbing I don't notice the tightness very much but when I am off the wall I need to be sitting and I take them off once or twice in a 1.5 hour climbing session. In the photos I took the heel pic to show where the ruler is starting for the main foot picture.
