I was looking for a steel toe alternative to my shrimp boots. I live on acreage which can stay pretty wet. I wear my shrimp boots just about every time I walk outside and when I mow/do chores (as u can see in the photo by how dirty they are). I love the shrimp boots because they have a wide top so my pants usually just fall into the boot and I don't have to bother with tucking them in. They are also just a little loose on the foot so no rubbing with or without socks. Very comfortable and my current pair is 2 years old. These steel toe boots are from the same manufacturer and have a wide top so that's why I chose them. The top is not as open as the shrimp boot but I think it will work fine. The foot is more fitted which I am not sure I will like as much as it may be too hot. Overall I like the boot and fit is okay but I won't know for sure until I put them to use. I wear a woman's 8 and purchased a 6 which is the correct size. My foot runs wide. Hopefully they will prove to be the workhorse my shrimp boots are.
Overall, I believe that these are great boots FOR THE MONEY. Context is key here. Are they mind blowingly amazing, super comfy, top of the line boots? No. Are they more than adequate for average joe use, for the cost? Absolutely. Would I recommend them if you're a hard-core, every day construction worker? Probably not...unless you're hard up for cash.My Intended Uses: I ordered these for some weekend concrete work and general "beater" boot duties around the house or up north. I do not work in any kind of construction field so they will not see daily wear and tear.Shipping & Packaging: Shipping was fast, 1 day. Packaging was normal, came in a sealed plastic bag. Nothing to complain about.Size & Fit: As other reviewers have said, they run a bit big. I usually wear a size 10 shoe and so often order a size up in boots to allow for room with thicker wool socks, etc. Well these boots I ordered in a size 10 and they fit (with the wool socks) perfectly. If you're wondering about sizes, definitely take a look at the size chart in the pictures on this listing. I followed their recommended measurements/sizes and it turned out to be correct.Comfortability: I would give them a "normal" comfort rating. They're definitely not what I would call "comfortable", in the sense that I think "wow, these are really comfy to walk around in". BUT, they are not UN-COMFORTABLE. They don't hurt the feet to walk around in and the steel-toe insert doesn't hurt or stick out in any bad way either.Quality: Overall quality control leaves a little to be desired. As you can see in my pictures, there are plenty of left over rubber tabs and pieces from when the excess rubber from the mold was trimmed off the boot. The cut on the tops of the boots are a little off as well. Does this impact functionality? No, just goes to show that QC isn't the primary focus of the manufacturer. But I didn't find anything that would negatively impact the actual use of the boot. There weren't any holes, or rips, or broken seams or anything of that nature, and the tread looked perfectly fine. Quite a hefty tread on the bottom.Weight: They're not HEAVY (I've definitely owned much heavier boots before), but they're not athletic shoe light either...not that you should reasonably expect that anyways. Just a relatively normal boot weight. To me it's not anything that would detract me from buying them again.Place of Origin: The boots have "Made In USA" on the top side of the boot. If that's important to you, then there you go.Overall Impression: Like I said, they're great boots...for the money. They probably won't last for 20 years, they're normal/average in comfort, and QC on the final product isn't exactly top notch. I guarantee there's plenty of better boots out there. BUT, for only $22.00 and PRIME shipping, you really can't complain too much. You get what you pay for, and considering I barely paid anything, I'm 100% satisfied with my purchase. If you need a heavy duty, long-term, every day construction boot, look elsewhere. If you just need a pair of cheap boots to muck around in on weekend projects, then these boots will do just fine and won't break the bank.
I was very happy to see that when I got these boots delivered they were stamped with Made in the USA. With a name like Servus and the low pricing I was expecting an import but was pleasantly surprised with the domestic manufacturing. One thing I can say is don't listen to others on the sizing. I wear a 9.5 shoe and based off of reviews I went with a 10 because these supposedly run small. My feet swim in these size 10 shoes. I am certain that based on this experience a size 9 would fit just right. I don't plan to use these to walk long distances, so I'll deal with the larger size, but if you have to do a lot of walking in these I would avoid going the next size up. Maybe with an insert and some insulated socks they would be better, but as-is they're just too big on my feet.As far as the boot itself, I'm very impressed with the quality. It seems like good quality rubber with good bonding between the different panels that make up these boots. The sole isn't quite as comfortable as some LaCrosse knee boots I used to wear hunting, but those were 3 times as expensive and still weren't what I'd call very comfortable. I just spent about an hour with my feet under water up to my calves with these boots on and my socks were bone dry when I walked back up to the house and took them off. I couldn't be happier with that part. I'll report back on durability later on, but I won't be putting a lot of miles on them, so it'll have to be about how long the rubber lasts before they fall apart. Like tires and o-rings, the quality of the rubber will determine how long it will take to dry rot and delaminate. Just based off of what I'm seeing now though (no stinky recycled rubber smell like from overseas brands here), I think it'll do fine. For the price, if I get 3 years light use out of these without leakage I'll be happy.
I purchased these for my husband. He is a plumber and needs these for various jobs, such as when toilets overflow, etc. He said they fit perfectly and they were perfect. Kept his feet completely dry, which was the reason I got them. Definitely will be purchasing again in the future.
