First of all, the shoe is exceptionally built and appears to handle anything you throw at it. I am not saying a cliché with carbon fiber soles and the synthetic leather, the shoe is practically indestructible. I love the silver color, and there are more options for other unique colors. I am trilled that the shoes actually fit (9.5”, 43.5m)….not many bike shoes come in half sizes. I completely blown away with these shoes. Now for the real test on the bike.
Everybody's foot is different. The Shimano brand always seems to fit me very well vs some other brands I've tried.

Love the RX801. They are stiff. The soles and uppers to be specific. I wear normal width 42 and they fit perfectly. I was worried about the stiff uppers not conforming to my feet swelling during longer rides but surprisingly there are no hot spots or localized pressure. For me, once my feet slips in, the entire shoe just molds to my feet. I just need to cinch the BOAs and the front Velcros to complete the process.The heel cup and the tongue is padded with synthetic leather, which I appreciate and should last a long time. It is also heavily padded for comfort.I love the silver color, it has this sheen that kinda looks like the shoe glows under certain light.It is however, not suitable for long walks because of how stiff it is. The soles are also very minimal and made with slippery rubber so won’t give you good traction if there is even a hint of moisture on the ground.For the money, I think this is an attractive and good value gravel shoes provided you fit perfectly in it. These RX801 definitely will be in heavy rotation to my other favorite shoe Lake MX242s.
These guys disappear on my feet, creating a seamless connection with me and my ride. Purchased through local shop, couldn’t be happier.Besides the seamless transfer of power, these are a breeze to lock in. Can’t say enough about these shoes.
