These shoes are comfortable and a fair price. They hold up well over time and look good
Sketchers 11.5w Black (2pr) and Brown (1pr)ProsThey are really comfortable, as a "seasoned citizen", my feet seem to have gotten "wider" with age, so the 11.5" wide version, gives me lots of toe room, but, I can still tie them nice and snug around the instep - giving a natural fit & feel.My ankles have always been "weak", easily rolled... and it sucks limping around for a week because the darn shoe has rounded edges instead of straight & solid edges. Tennis shoes are probably good for tennis, these are good for walking, wearing around the house / town, or for me, walking across farmer's fields (for work). I have NOT rolled my ankles, even though these are low cut and provide no ankle support - but, I do step carefully, as a life-long practice. They have that nice "Blue collar look" - my boss thinks they are steel toed... LOL, they are not! My toes get cold easily, so the extra room allows me to wear heavy socks, or thin socks, and my feet are comfortable. I got 3 pairs, one pair is gonna get a good spit-shine polish, and become my "Church Pair". I like to wiggle my toes! They LASTed a long time for me! I'm replacing two pairs I bought 6 years ago. One pair was getting ragged, the other pair is just looking "rough", with it's paint specks, scratches, etc. These are the ONLY shoes I wear! It's Sketchers or slippers... rain or shine, mud or hot dusty dry - they're like work boots, church shoes, go to the beach shoes, feed the ducks, cows - but, I stay away from the pigs! They "shed" dirt & mud well.Great "traction" on dry, wet or polished finishes (they can squeak like a tennis shoe). I'm comfortable on gravel driveways, concrete sidewalks, stepping across brick walkways, pavers, wet grass, up/down stairs - they do not slip, the lug soles are just right depth to avoid getting "stuck" on uneven surfaces, but enough there to walk with confidence & not be slippin' n slidin' away like a dress shoe! The sole is "stiffer" than a dress or tennis shoe, but not as stiff as a hiking boot. Walk with confidence!ConsYour feet can get warm & sweaty if you're working - so they need a day or "rest" between use - buy TWO pairs, problem solved... one pair "airs out" while you wear the other pair - these do not "breathe" like a cloth, ventilated shoe. But, you can step in a mud puddle, and the feet stay dry.-----------In the end, if you already "know your size" because you're a previous owner - the price is about the same as a store (unless they're onsale). I just looked at the tongue, got my size & ordered - they fit just like the old ones. If you're NOT a previous owner, by all means, go to a store, try them on, narrow, medium, wide and different lengths! I'm wearing a 1/2 size shorter than other brands, but wider (does that make sense..?).
These shoes are pretty comfortable but not awesome. They look okay but not great. These are cheaply made shoes and it shows but they are probably worth the price. I won't buy them again but I won't throw these out either.
...of these guys. As someone with peripheral neuropathy, foot discomfort and pain are the usual, so there's not much more important to my daily dress routine than my shoes. There's nothing that focuses your mind on the feel and fit of your shoes quite like chronic foot pain, and for the last 8 years or so, these have been my shoes.Since they're not listed on Sketchers website anymore, I think the product is discontinued, and remaining stock is NOS. A real shame, because these are awesome shoes. I've been wearing these for daily work (office/business casual, and managerial-type jobsite stuff), and they've been lasting about 2-3 years or so per pair there, then another several years of wear if you don't necessarily care what they look like--2 years of average use will scuff up any pair of shoes. One of the best aspects of this shoe is its ability to work in all types of environments, and if you're okay with shoes that look a little worn, you can wear these things for a very long time. I still wear my original pair if I'm doing something I know will be messy, muddy, oily, or whatever. The existing footbed and insole are fantastic--I really like Sketchers Relaxed Fit line. While I now wear prescription orthotics soles in my shoes (including these), the Sketchers Relaxed Fit insoles are very nice, about like having a brand new pair of quality drugstore insoles installed. Walk as far as you want, your feet will be as comfortable as they can be. These insoles will eventually wear out, but they will probably last longer than the outsoles; keep buying drugstore insoles to stretch the service life, because there will be plenty of life left when those give up.The toe box is nice and wide; nice if you've got some bunions or some such, as there's room for your toes to do what they gotta do, and space for them to be there. The upper is nice and sturdy; while they don't protect your feet as well as boots, they do protect them better than most shoes, and certainly most shoes you'd consider for a business casual dress code. They probably feel a little more like boots than office shoes, which I guess is fine by me.The outsole is thick rubber, which is awesome, but somewhat soft--great for comfort, less so for wear. The soles will be the first thing on these to start showing wear, and honestly, the outsoles wear much more quickly than they should. But, don't let those wearing soles fool you; still plenty of life left in the shoes, even after the soles wear down past the lugs (meaning the soles are almost completely treadless). The softer rubber compound provides more traction than you'd think in an urban environment, and provide plenty of purchase even after you've worn off the treads of the soles. The treads themselves aren't all that good to begin with--pretty shallow, large blocky lugs, absence of sipes. Whatever--the characteristics that make the soles wear poorly are the same characteristics that make them useful after the tread is gone. If you live in an environment that has an actual winter, with ice/snow, then you'll need something else for that season. While the upper is waterproof, and these will keep your feet warm and dry, they're not much good for snow (shallow lugs if new, non-existent lugs if not). The other great thing about the outsole is its width--very stable shoe. Its really important that folks that can't feel their feet have a stable, supportive step, and this shoe provides that in spades.Workmanship and QC has been outstanding on the pairs I've bought. Never had a stripped or dissecting seam, broken eyelet (those are metal), or the dreaded "total glue failure," where the outsole starts to curl out a little bit, then starts coming apart from the upper, ultimately resulting in most of the upper becoming unattached to sole. You know, floppy shoe. Never happened with these guys, and its not like its a close call.Perhaps best overall is the ability to put these guys on in the morning, regardless of my workday (office, traveling, jobsite, or just hiking around farmground) and know I'll be comfortable and stable, even with my terrible, terrible feet. Just ask yourself, why else would someone buy three pair of shoes with a known issue of quickly-wearing outsoles? Because they're the most comfortable shoes I own, that's why.Recommended. Kinda. I'd like to keep buying these for myself as long as I can.
On my third pair of these. I use them a lot for both work and casual. My work includes time outside in various weather and they tend to hold up pretty well in lots of different situations. I put them through a lot though and usually need to replace every 6 months or so. The front part of the outsole starts to fray a little bit by that time due to the frequent and outdoor use. Overall, pleased with these, wish they were a little bit cheaper since they tend to not last forever.
Fit great ,super comfortable, best shoes I've had in a long time. And after wearing Ive found out they have absolutely no grip on damp/wet floorsMakes it like walking onIce.
I got the girl version of these for myself in the early 00s late 90s first x they come out then I obsessed on them til I found them again a few yrs back ive ordered 2 pairs for myself and ths is for my husband I had to see if they had these amazing shoes for men too and baby I went straight to check out w em and so happy tht I did they look as good as mine except for men 12 outta 10 recommended and they have wide sizing phenom walking ability in them is excellent it feels very sturdy firm like your solid w the ground under u confident they r very comfortable too and waterproof like a lil rain aint hurting u in em simply some of the legends of sketchers collection honestly
