I think it’s just the black, bulky bottoms of these shoes make them look frumpy.

I ordered a 9 after reading reviews they were true to size. Mine ran small and should have ordered a9 1/2. The toe box is very narrow and still causes a little rubbing on my big toe. Other than those two, the cushioning is great are they are VERY cute. (I would have returned but wore them outside)
