Great Fit, Great Materials and Great Looks
I can't believe how easy it is to get these new boots on and off. I was expecting more resistance one way or the other. But, nope. They slide on and off thanks to the elastic gores on the sides. My instep is so high that I often struggle to get into my C.T. high-tops. So to find a pair of hard toe, work shoes this easy is a great boon. And couple the instep with the onset of Neuropathy and you'll find a need for a wide and supportive boot. And these are.I haven't been doing much activity that would really require work boots for quite some time now so I had none. However last summer, my wife and I decided to spruce up the backyard. More activity than I care to recall. Plus I am one of the world's clumsiest men. So in the winter, I really need some traction. I decided to find a nice, easy to care for pair of boots that would serve me in all seasons. I perused Amazon, as always, and ordered these Defencas slip-on work boots in a 10.5 Wide. They are promised to be traction heavy for ice and snow, and cool in the summer thanks to The Lycra Company's ecofriendly Coolmax polyester fiber lining.The boot is extremely comfortable for standing or moving due to a thick layer of Polyurethane memory foam on the insole. It reverts to it's original form after stimuli such as your body weight is removed. They are also ASTM F2413 Certified for impact and compression prevention. Safety first. In fact, I wish I had had them earlier in the year when we were pruning tree limbs.I have only one small complaint so far. I had to run to the market for a single item today. I slipped these on with no socks and left. It took me no time. By the time I got back home, I had a broken skin spot on each of my shins from a hard bump at the top of the tongues where a thick seam ends. I'll try again tomorrow with socks and see what results. I can't have the bottom of my feet feeling fine, and my shins bleeding. The same seam is on the backstay, under the pull loop but it doesn't rub the same way. I think athletic socks will do the trick.If I come back with undesirable news regarding the tongue protrusion, I will update this review and revisit the Star total. But for now we have a great looking pair of cool, supportive, true slip-on, traction providing, hard toe, work boots. I think that deserves 5 Stars.

Wide size, ASTM F2413 Certified, just slightly uncomfortable in the shin area.
I appreciate when I can find a work boot in wide sizes. I bought these in 10.5 wide, which is my normal size, and they fit perfectly.These are slip-on boots, so no laces are necessary. This is convenient because it is a lot easier to step into a boot than to stop and lace them up. The downside is the fit won't be as good, and you may find these get sucked off your foot when stepping into deep, thick mud. This isn't the fault of the boot, just a characteristic of slip-on boots.The boots are comfortable when first putting them on. I found the shin part of the boot stiff and therefore doesn't flex as I walk, pushing into my shin a bit. My guess is it will soften over time.The boots seem well made, with no issues in terms of welding, stitching, or appearance. The price is in line with what I would expect to pay for ASTM F2413 Certified Safety Shoes.Wide size, ASTM F2413 Certified, just slightly uncomfortable in the shin area.
