Truly waterproof

Where other supposedly waterproof hiking boots have failed, these boots have kept my feet dry. The sizing seems appropriate, and the fit is comfortable for hiking (unlike waterproof duck boots). Have worn these about four months now and they seem to be holding up well. Also, the shoe laces have sufficient friction so that they remain tied without having to tie knots; not true for other hiking boots. I highly recommend these hiking boots from Sorel! My quest for a comfortable waterproof hiking boot has been met.

Pay attention to sizing!!

These boots are very nice, but (there's always a conditional!!) - In fact they are quite warm as well - do pay attention to the comments about narrow ( a "C" as opposed to a "D" or wider) which must be taken seriously. I went to a 10.5 but really should have ordered an 11, if I want to wear thicker socks! I still had to slip on thinner socks - albeit with some padding on the bottom. That having been said they are a quality product and well constructed!

Great Looking/Performing Hiking Boots

What you should know about Sorel is that they design their boots around a snug fit for optimal performance and a Sorel style of comfort. This can be disconcerting if you are used to having extra toe room and a looser fit. Look at their sizing chart and you will get an indication of how they role. They walk a fine line between snug comfort and too small...That being said, no other boot company is paying as much attention to styling as Sorel, delivering functionally attractive boots that look great out on wilderness hikes and urban treks...Reading the reviews about sizing, I ordered one size up which I normally do not do, but my foot is longer, and narrow, than the length of my normal size on their chart. So I have toe wiggle room without them feeling too big. I also have another pair of Sorels my correct size and they have that snug fit I mention above, no wiggle room for toes or heavy sox, but an enveloped comfort I have never felt before, where foot and boot feel like a compact unit...So, sizing is tricky, but if you have a wide foot, definately order a size larger...narrow foot, it might be worth trying your size to experience their enveloped comfort..At first, with this boot, I noticed a pinch in the toe box, where it creases at the laces, with each step. This occured due to my tightening too much, which went away by tightening less closer to the toe box and more the last three lacing straps. The fit works just fine now...All in all, these boots definately fit into the hiking category, but look distinctively different from all the rest. Nice job Sorel...

High quality boots!

I have a rather high instep and a slightly wide foot. For reference, I wear an 8.5 in Adidas and a 7 Wide in L.L. Bean 6" Boots.I ordered these Sorel boots in size 9. While the length is more than adequate (I could have possibly sized down to an 8 if not for the width), they are a little tight across the sides (with thick socks). I've decided to keep them because the tightness is manageable and does not cause pain. I am hopeful that they will stretch slightly with wear.I also bought Sorel Madson II, same size 9, and the leather seems to be more forgiving than Buxton synthetic materials. These are not ideal for a rainy city environment, as they tend to become very slippery on wet surfaces like tiles, marble, or polished floors.

Hubby loves these

We are Sorel groupies. I've owned 6 pairs of Sorels and these are my husband's second pair. He really liked his first pair (I think they are the Caribou style) but for some reason after 4 years, the rubber sole separated from the upper fabric near the toe. But prior to that, Sorels have really performed well for both of us (warm, stylish, but not wimpy in the snow). Very durable and built for tough winters. I ordered the Men's Buxton boot in brown/black as soon as we saw his first pair broke. He's normally a size 10-10.5 with a regular (very slightly narrow) width. Knowing that Sorels tend to run small, I ordered him a size 11 and crossed my fingers as that was the size he had in the Caribou (which were MASSIVE). The boots arrived yesterday and he immediately put them on and they're a perfect fit! Just enough room at the toe for wiggle room, thicker socks, and air circulation for warmth. He especially appreciates that this design has a lot more "flexibility" in the sole than his other ones which were very hefty and in a way, difficult to drive in. The Buxton boot is like a very durable hiking boot and is lower cut. His other Sorels were much higher cut but he wanted to try this style. The color is gorgeous with suede and mesh fabric trim and the rubber uppers are reminiscent of a duck boot so there is no worry that the toes will stay dry. This boot will do great for not only snowblowing the deep snow but also for walking around running errands on the daily. Plus he will be able to feel the pedals of the car better. Very pleased that they fit, so size up!
