Design Flaw and/or Bad Manufacturing

I bought these boots in March of last year, and I really really wanted to like them. When I bought them, I had seen reviews that had shown where the lace hooks were prone to come off. However, I I decided to give them a shot.Out of the box, they were comfortable, light weight, and stylish. I was excited and immediately loved them. However I had only had them for a couple of months before one of my lace hooks came off (fell off, the leather wasn’t damaged). I was able to keep the lace hook and the boots were still under warranty, so I submitted a claim.First of all, I had to pay to ship these boots back to Sorel. Secondly, warranty claims through Sorel give you 2 options; in-store credit, or you can send them the item to repair. I chose to get the boots repaired because I loved them. If they deem the item unrepairable they give you 2 more options; they can throw the item away, or send it back to you. I chose to have them sent back, but was sure they would fix the lace hook.A few weeks go by without hearing any update, when I get alerted that the boots had been returned. I was pumped. I was less pumped when I found they had just put a letter in the mix stating “we’re sorry these can’t be fixed, blah, blah…” what was even worse, is that the boots were missing ANOTHER lace hook. So not only did they not repair the boots, but I got them back in worse condition then I when I sent them in.I called the warranty department and after explaining it all, the service person told me “I always tell people to just get the store credit.”I ended up using gorilla glue to fix the lace hooks, both held for. A new one fell off a month ago and one I repaired myself fell off this past week.In conclusion, I tried really hard to like these boots, but they aren’t wearable and Sorel does not seem to stand behind their own product. I do not recommend this pair of boots.
