Runs large, order half size down, great boot!
I usually wear a 5 or 5.5 in regular shoes. In boots I wear a 5.5 or 6, and based on the reviews I ordered a 5. I usually never wear 5 in boots because the foot will fit perfect, but my ankles and calves will be uncomfortably constricted, however these fit absolutely perfect, not too small, not too big. I can wear them with a thick sock, and they fit perfect. I can layer with another sock and it still fits perfect. They are cushioned and it wasn't hard to put my foot in at all, like some other reviewers said. This boot is not too heavy or bulky like the "Sorel Caribou Boot". The Caribou boots feel like they're about 10 pounds heavier than these Carnival ones.In response to the reviewers who spoke about the hard piece in the back that hurts their ankle, I did not have any problems with it. They fit amazing and are SUPER comfortable. I've broken them in and during the "breaking in" process (Which took about a week), there was a slight discomfort, but nothing to the point where it made me want to take off my boots. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being painful, it hurt like a 2. I've broken them in and they are seriously the most comfortable snow boots. I have a feeling that the people that are complaining about the boots being uncomfortable are just experiencing what it feels like to "break in" boots. You get that with every shoe.Overall these Sorel Carnival Boots are the most adorable, comfortable, and warm snow boots. I have never been happier with a shoe purchase. Sorel did a great job with these.

Great so far! Will update as the winter progresses.
These boots are so cute and comfortable! I just purchased the pewter boots in a size 8.5, which is my normal size. They are roomy in the toes, which is perfect for layering socks and boot socks when it gets really cold. They adjust around the ankle with the strings, and the fur on top keeps any chaffing from happening--definitely makes them very comfortable. They keep your feet warm in -25 degree weather, and I'm hoping these will keep my toes toasty this winter in Chicago, which is supposed to be terrible. I'll post an update as it gets colder and snowy!**UPDATE**We just had our first big snow in Chicago (7 inches), and these boots are phenomenal! I can wear just regular running socks and my feet are so warm, it doesn't even feel like I'm outside. I even stood in the 7 inches of snow for an extended period of time playing with my greyhound, and never felt the cold through the shoes. They wiped clean and I was able to kick the snow off easily with no tracking in our condo building. The laces are easy to use, even with gloves on (not too short to use with thick gloves), and they dry quickly as well. The fur on top never got wet, and repelled the water well. And I have no signs of scuffing around the boot either. They are perfect!**UPDATE #2**Today in Chicago we had a windchill of -11. I did wear two pairs of socks and only after an hour of walking downtown did my toes start to feel cold. However, I outlasted my friends! Best boots and still 100% satisfied.

Best boots!
I've lived in northern Illinois my whole life and I've never had a pair of Sorels, but after my first winter on my own on a college campus, I decided to invest and buy some quality winter snow boots, and let me tell you - Sorels are the way to go. If you're shopping for the perfect warm, waterproof boot, this is it!These boots are wildly warm and comfortable. They run large (I went down a half size, but I should have gone down a full size), so I wear two pairs of socks, or one pair of thick socks. They are large and clunky, there's no doubt about it, but they provide coverage that is worth having big feet. I didn't really like the white fluff that comes on top of the liner, so I just cut it off and it looks fine. They're not exceedingly fashionable, but there's this sense of luxury when you're wearing them because you know it's worth it and they're rather expensive.Because I got a size that was too large, the back of my ankles got a little blistered when they rubbed up against the back of the boot. The liners in the boot are essential - without them the boot is basically a massive, rubber shell. The liners, for me, got beat up quickly. I reckon that each winter season every year you'll need to get a new, thick boot liner. These boots are totally waterproof, so you can wear them as rainboots in late fall/early spring. I would recommend buying proper rainboots for summer, though - Sorel is too heavy and warm for summer showers. These boots - minus liners - will last you forever. I know adults who have had this brand of boot since they were in their mid-twenties and they still have them and use them. Totally worth the investment. If you shop around on eBay or other resale sites, you could definitely find them for cheaper, but Amazon offers quick shipping with a brand new set of boots.

Very warm & cute!
I live in the Midwest and snow can be expected every winter. I was looking for a warm boot that was easy to get on and held up through the cold & snow. Here are a few things I noticed in my first month of using the boots:1. I bought my regular shoe size. No complaints, the fit is good, snug with thicker socks. I keep the laces tied a bit loose so I can slip the boots on & off which make it a bit more practical for everyday use.2. After my first use, I almost thought I was going to have to return the boots. I wore them out all day and the back cut into my ankles really bad. After a few more tries the boots broke in a bit more and now I really don’t have any issue with it hurting my ankles.3. They are warm. We have been dealing with some single digit lows with windchills below zero the past week and my feet have been comfortable in just wool socks & the boots. The rubber keeps the snow from getting through which also helps keep them warm.4. They are big, clunky and heavy but that can be expected. Even so, they are still pretty cute and fashionable. I love the plum color, goes with everything!Over all I think they are really nice boots. Great for every day use in the snow & cold of winter. Just beware they make take a few uses to break in and might cut into your ankles at first.
