Empty then bleeding... then bliss
Low rating to reflect fact that box arrived EMPTY. Sure, blame can fall on Amazon delivery, but I think too the fact that there is nothing on manufacturer box to keep it closed. A simple piece of tape could help deter incidents of "loss."That was the first try. Second shipment arrived with boots in the box. Nice boots too -perfect fit, quality construction, comfortable. But, my pant cuffs are stained. Transfer from boots to pants after what I assume is bleeding of the black after walking over dewy grass. These are work pants so the stains aren't a big deal, but the boots should not bleed like that.UPDATE: Sometimes the product we buy isn't the only thing to consider. Customer support is important too. To have a product review be addressed by the manufacturer, in a positive, attentive way, means a lot too. My concern was addressed, new boots sent, and communication continued. That alone would be enough to make me change my star rating to a five; but then the new boots have been great too. Perfect. I put them to the test, wearing them exclusively for a week; comfortable, capable, stylish. A walk on the beach, I laughed at my friend as his feet in $100 name brand boots were soaked through while my feet stayed warm and dry. (Rare 40 degree beach day too!) So, name brand and/or high price don't always reflect good quality or quality customer support.

Impressed with the value.
Surprisingly good boots for the money. I ordered these to replace a worn out pair of Dr. Martens Industrial Steel Toed Boots, which they don't make anymore. These were the closest I could find to that style and with similar features. I wear a 10.5 (US) in shoes and sometimes buy an 11 in work boots. I initially bought an 11, but returned them for a 10.5. The fit is good for me - possibly a tad loose, which will be good for thicker socks in the winter months. The boots are sturdy and a little clunky for the first couple of weeks, but have slowly started to break in. They are not quite as comfortable as the Dr. Martens, but not uncomfortable, either. The laces for these boots should be a gauge or two lager, but they work fine and stay laced. These critiques are all very minor, and are completely offset by the price - especially the sale price. I doubt you could find a better value.

Impressive comfort, fit and price
I'm over 50 and these are my first steel toed boots. Plenty of other boots, so I was a bit anxious about these.Compared to my past boots that I bought "in my size" at 10 1/2, these are better. My normal approach for shoes is to buy 10 1/2 and let my feet stretch them. That's a bad idea for a sturdy boot, the material will win out. These aren't Sperry's for heaven's sake ;)They are heavy, right at 2lb's each. So if you're not ready for them, they'll wear you out. Exercise before buying them, and then getting used to that weight is important, as well as it lets you break them in a bit.I do recommend two pairs of socks, nothing insane, just to add to the padding, as they don't have padding on the foot itself. The ankle padding is great, but that's not the padding I am suggesting the user provide. So if you're in doubt, go up 1/2 size and plan on socks to help add that padding.

Adding 2 stars to my original review for customer support.___________________Not a fan of these boots. There's just something "off" about them. The laces on one of the boots has already snagged so I swapped them out for a different pair of laces. I'm wearing them out in the field right now and they are awkward around the ankle/ heel area and just don't feel as comfortable as my other safety shoes. They are difficult to slip on since so you have to unlace them more than halfway to make it easier. Stiff to walk in. I tried to add more cusion to make them more comfortable but then my my feet were rubbing. Oh well. Nice material though.

My feet just keep getting bigger as I get older. Bought these in a size 12 when I’ve grown to a size 12 ½. These fit great and wide enough for my flat feet. Thick leather, a little clunky feeling at first but are very comfortable now. Great shoe and great price.
